Cross-Passageway

Requirement
 Cross passage as per NFPA 130

• No cross passages for tunnel sections not exceeding 762m between

emergency exits/exit stairways.

• For tunnel sections exceeding 750m between emergency exits, the cross
passage shall be provided no farther than 244m from the end of platform.

• Distance between cross passages shall not be more than 244m.

 Cross passage as per NBC-2016

• No cross passages for tunnel sections not exceeding 750m between

emergency exits/exit stairways.

• For tunnel sections exceeding 750m between emergency exits, the first cross
passage shall be provided no farther than 500m from the end of platform.

• Distance between subsequent cross passages shall not be more than 250m.

• Crossover shall be considered as cross passage and the distance between

crossover and subsequent cross passage shall not be more than 250m.
