• It is classified into two basic
group: intrapersonal and
interpersonal.

• Enthusiastic- words that manifest
enthusiasm and eagerness.
• Relevant- words that are necessary.
• Authentic- avoid lies.
• Tactful- avoid words that tend to offend.
• Modulated- pronounce words in a
modulated voice.

• Ethics- words should be carefully
chosen in consideration of the gender,
roles, ethnicity, preferences, and
status of the person or people you are
talking to.

3. Paralanguage
Consists of ways in which
you say words. It includes
volume, pitch, speaking
rate and voice quality.
• Volume indicates how loudly or softly you
are speaking.
• Pitch is how high and low the sound of
your voice.
• Speaking Rate is how fast or slowly you
are speaking.
• Voice Quality is what makes people able
to recognize you by your voice alone.
