study.
3. IDENTIFY THE VARIABLES
1. Independent variable. The cause supposed to be responsible for bringing about change/s in a phenomenon
or situation.
2. Dependent variable. The outcome of the change/s brought about by changes in the independent variable.

4. Moderator Variable. A variable that may or may not be controlled but has an effect on the research illustration
STATING THE HYPOTHESIS
OF THE STUDY
 Hypothesis is a predictive statement that represents the researcher’s tentative answer to the
problem statement.
 Hypothesis serve the following functions:
 Provides focus to the study
 Tell the researcher what data to gather
 Enhance objectivity in the study
 Enables the researcher to contribute to the formulation of a theory and bridge the gaps in the body of
knowledge
 In constructing hypothesis it should:
 Be simple and specific
 Be stated in an empirically testable form
 Be related to the existing body of knowledge
 Indicate the specific nature of connection
STATING THE HYPOTHESIS
OF THE STUDY
 Example 1:
 Problem:
How do liberal arts students compare with education students in their level of assertiveness?
 Null Form (Ho):
There is no significant difference in the level of assertiveness of liberal arts and education
