WASTE
HAZARDOUS
MATERIAL
■ Any item that has the potential to cause
harm to humans, animals, or the
environment
■ Hazardous material are widely used in a
variety of different global businesses
■ Has to be properly treated, stored, and dealt
with to avoid possible damage to human
health, animals, environment and property
IMPACTS OF NOT PROPERLY TREATING
THE WASTE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIAL
Short term: Long term:
• Contributing to Water Pollution like • Mutation on animals
Wastewater • Cancer and other diseases on human
• If the waste poured into waterways • Destruction of many natural resources
makes rivers and lakes unsafe to use
for drinking and agricultural purposes
• Could kill animals and plants as well
as affecting the health of humans who
utilize the water
SOLID
WASTE
■ Useless and unwanted
products in the solid state
derived from industrial
activities
■ Major environmental concern
is gas release by decomposing
garbage which contributes to
the “Greenhouse gas effect”
and climate change

Decomposing – to cause something to be slowly destroyed

Greenhouse gas effect – a process that occurs when gases in earth trap the sun’s heat which cause raise in
temperature
The public and environment are at risk from radiation
exposure from various industrial activities
Usage of radioactive materials, x – ray machines
and electrical installations

RADIATION
Leads to:

Increasing the chances

Destroyed plant life of humans and animals
developing cancer
NOISE POLLUTION
■ Generally an unwanted sound which produces
unpleasant effects and discomfort on the ears
■ Sources of noise pollution:
– Industrial production noise
– Big trucks and ship for products transportation
■ Frequent exposure on humans could cause physical
and mental health damages
■ Besides humans, animals could also be affected
– Chain saw operations by timber companies
create unpleasant noise to animals in the
forests
