1 WHAT IS A NOUN?
A noun is a word that refers to a thing (book), a person (Betty Crocker), an animal (cat), a place (Omaha), a
quality (softness), an idea (justice), or an action (yodeling).
2 WHAT IS A PRONOUN?
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. Examples: he, she, it, they, someone,
who. Pronouns can do all of the things that nouns can do.
3 WHAT ARE THE PERSONAL PRONOUNS?
A personal pronoun is a short word we use as a simple substitute for the proper name of a person. Each of
the English personal pronouns shows us the grammatical person, gender, number, and case of the noun it
replaces.
4 VERB TO BE
The verb be is irregular. It has eight different forms: be, am, is, are, was, were, being, been. The present
simple and past simple tenses make more changes than those of other verbs.
