Maori Culture
This made up the indigenous culture of the country. The Maori people are the
indigenous people of Aotearoa (New Zealand) and first arrived in the country in
voyaging canoes over 1000 years ago and developed a distinct culture. Today, the
Maori people make up the 14% of the population and their language, tradition and
culture has a greatly influence all facets of New Zealand life.
In the late 18th century, many Europeans migrated to New Zealand. They were able to
destabilize the Maori society due to the weapons, technologies and diseases they
brought to the country.

This culture was brought by the British settlers who colonized
New Zealand in the 19th century. Before 1815, Pakeha is a term
used to define white people.  It is referred to the people who
came from England and settled in the country. Later on, the term
is used to define fair-skinned person who was born in New
Zealand. It was later on that the term Pakeha was applied to all
fair-skinned people in the country. This will include anybody with
Anglo-celtic origin such as England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and
even Americans. Although somewhat related to the British
culture, the Pakeha they have a distinct differences. While the
British culture includes higher form equality, the Pakeha culture
is a sub-culture that is derived from the Irish, Italian and other
European groups and non-ethnic subcultures.
What do you think the title that would suit the previous
paragraph? And what are your opinion about the Maori

Future Continuous
Refers to an unfinished action or event that will be in progress at a time
later than now.

● Affirmative: subject + will be + verb-ing


I will be staying.

● Negative: subject + won’t be + verb-ing


She won’t be skiing.

● Interrogative: will + subject + be + verb-ing?


Will they be sleeping in this room?

Future Perfect
Refers to a completed action in the future. When we use this tense, we are
projecting ourselves forward into the future and looking back at an action
that will be completed some time later than now.

● Affirmative: subject + will have + past participle


I will have been here for six months tomorrow.

● Negative: subject + won’t have + past participle


I won’t have been here by the time you read this.

● Interrogative: will + subject + have + past participle?


Will you have eaten when I pick you up?

Future Perfect Continuous


Refers to events or actions in a time between now and some future time
that are unfinished.

● Affirmative: subject + will have been + verb-ing


I will have been waiting here for 3 hours by 6 o’clock.

● Negative: subject + won’t have been + verb-ing


They won’t have been travelling

● Interrogative: will + subject + have been + verb-ing?

• Divide into 4 groups
• Each group needs to make 3 different sentences using
future tense and related to New Zealand. (min. 4
words)
• Act out those sentences without speaking, and the
other groups have to guess the complete sentences.
