What is a complex sentence
A complex sentence is formed by one
or more subordinate clauses and the
main clause join by an conjunctions
and/or relative pronouns.
A clause is a simple sentence.
Complex sentences contain more than
one clause.
Forms of Complex Sentences
Independent clause
+ A complex sentence is formed by adding one or more subordinate
Subordinate clause (dependent) clauses to the main (independent) clause using conjunctions
and/or relative pronouns.
1. Dependent adjective clauses act as adjectives.
2. Dependent adverb clauses act as adverbs.
3. Dependent noun clauses act as nouns.
