THREE (3) TYPES OF SMOKES
1. Mainstream Smoke – refers specifically to the smoke that a smoker directly
inhales

2. Sidestream Smoke – the smoke that comes out of the lighted end of the cigarette pipe. This
can also be called “Second Hand Smoke” (SHS) or “Environmental Tobacco Smoke” (ETS). It
is the more dangerous because the smoke is not filtered and is directly absorbed by the body.
THREE (3) TYPES OF SMOKES
3. Third-Hand Smoke – smoke left for protracted time on sofa, beddings, pillows, and other
objects. This is also called “Residual Tobacco Smoke” (RTS). This smoke might last for months and
still contains harmful chemicals and carcinogens, a substance that causes cancer.
