QUANTITATIVE DATA

QUANTITATIVE DATA
GROUP 1
WHAT IS IT? + BACKGROUND

• From the word itself-quantity, the amount or number, it collects or gather quantifiable data
(information) from person to person
• Emphasize objective measurements
• Perhaps, the most important part of a research report because it is the culmination of all
your efforts
• And usually collected for statistical analysis using surveys, polls, or questionnaires,
across to a specific section of population
WHAT IS IT? + BACKGROUND

• After careful understating of these numbers to predict the future of a product or

make changes accordingly
• A big deal because the findings are the essence of the whole research report
• The father of quantitative data, Paul Felix Lazarsfeld, father of research surveys,
he carefully assessed social conditions, life budgets, etc. He transformed
qualitative data into quantitative analysis, a breakthrough in the field of research
survey methodology
PURPOSE

• Is to generate knowledge and create understanding about the social world

• It is to observe phenomena or occurrences affecting individuals
IMPORTANCE

• Market size demographics, and user preferences provides important

information for business decisions it can be the key for us to understand it
better and it plays
• Along with quality data, for they complement each other. That they provide
information for each other for us to know and/or understand or maybe to
trust the research much better
TWO TYPES OF QUANTITATIVE DATA

There are two types of quantitative data, which is also referred

to as numeric data: continuous and discrete. As a general rule,
counts are discrete and measurements are continuous. Discrete
data is a count that can't be made more precise. Typically it
involves integers.

REMINDERS/GUIDELINES IN PRESENTING QUANTITATIVE DATA

• Support your presentation with graphics, such as tables, graphs, charts, and
figures
• Focus on discussing the most important information
• Make sure that the graphics are clearly labelled with a title for the readers to
identify and understand easily
• Don't judge or give your opinion on the results obtained
• Remember to write for the reader and it should be logical and easy to follow
