Congratulation
Definition
Congratulation is Expression of happiness feeling or good
feeling which we can say as celebrating event when we
hear the good news about other people’s achievements,
success, promotion, new baby, new life, etc.
 Social Function
It is used to express our happiness or positive feeling
about their success. This can manage good relationships
among friends, family, classmates, and other people
around us.
Giving Compliment
• Compliment is an expression to appreciate
or praise other people. Compliment is useful
to give encouragement so that people will
keep on doing their best and even improve
their performance.
• When to express compliment:
• - On general occasion,
• - When someone has done his/her best,
• - If you notice something new about
someone’s appearance.
 That’s is a very nice . . .  Thank you
 You’re looking extremely . . .  Oh, it was nothing.
 You certainly have good taste in . . .  Do you think so?
 I must compliment you on . . .  Oh, they are really not very good.
 My compliment to you on . . .  Thank you for the compliment.
 I’d like to compliment you on . . .  I appreciate the compliment

Here are a couple easy to follow formulas for putting together a compliment.
1. Your + Noun  + is/looks + Adjective
               > Your cat is so cute! 
               > Your backpack is really nice.
  > The woman’s bag looks wonderful
2. This/That + is + Adjective + Noun
               > That is a beautiful necklace.
               > This is such a cool car.
3. I/We+ like/love + Noun Phrase
               > I really love your homemade chocolate cake.
               > I like the presentation you gave.
4. How + Adjective + Noun + is/are.
How beautiful flower is.
How big house is.
How careful jobs are.
5. What + Adjective + Noun.
What a beautiful flower.

Situation 1
You and your friend.

Your close friend tells you that he/she has


just got a big promotion at work. After
hearing the news, you feel happy about it
