What is an Agrarian
Reform?

is defined as the rectification of of the whole system of


agriculture. It focuses on the distribution of lands and
its goal is to provide landowners equality in terms of
income and opportunities and to enhance agricultural
production.
Why do we need Agrarian
Reform?
Its purpose is to give support and provide for the farm
workers and landless poors. It sought to redistribute
land. The agrarian reform is important because the
result shows it has a positive impact on farmer –
beneficiaries.
History of the Agrarian Reform

0 Before the Hispanic period, there were no owner-


cultivators only communal lands.
0 When the Spaniards came, there were too many laws
implemented during the era which then resulted for
the people of the Philippines to be under the
Spaniards colonization.
0 For a long period of time, the Agrarian System of the
Philippines was being controlled by the large
landlords.
What is DAR?

Department of Agrarian Reform is the lead


implementing agency of Comprehensive Agrarian
Reform Program. It undertakes land tenure
improvement and development of program
beneficiaries.

An Act strengthening the Comprehensive Agrarian


Reform Program, extending the acquisition and
distribution of all agricultural lands, instituting
necessary reforms, amending for the purpose certain
provisions of republic act no. 6657, otherwise known as
the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law of 1988, as
amended, and appropriating funds therefor
Therefore, Farmers, farmworkers, and landlords, as well as
cooperatives and other autonomous farmers' organizations,
shall have the right to engage in the program's planning,
organization, and management, and the state shall support
agriculture by providing sufficient technology and research,
as well as adequate financial development, marketing, and
other support services. They have the consent to give ideas
and be a part of the growing community for the farmers.
