PHYSICAL FITNESS COMPONENTS

Health Related Physical Fitness


• Cardio Respiratory Endurance – Refers to the body’s ability to deliver oxygen
and nutrients to tissues and organs and the ability to utilize them over
sustained periods of time. This component is demonstrated during long-
distance running or swimming.

• Muscular Strength – Refers to the ability of your muscles to exert force. This
component is illustrated when lifting or moving heavy objects such as doing a
weightlifting workout.

• MUSCULAR ENDURANCE - Refers to the ability of your muscles to exert force
or to perform repetitive movements over prolonged periods of time. This
component can be tested by doing sit ups or push-ups

• FLEXIBILITY - Refers to the ability to move our joints and muscles through
their full range of motion. This can be seen when doing stretches or splits.

• BODY COMPOSITION - Refers to the ration of lean muscle to fats in the body.

Skill Related Physical Fitness

Skill Related Physical Fitness - consist of components that have a relationship


with learning motor skills quickly and the ability to achieve a high level of
performance in sports.
• Agility - Refers to the ability to change the direction of your body quickly and
efficiently at the speed of your travel. In games such as tennis, agility is
important to reach the ball in time.
• Balance – refers to the ability to remain in equilibrium while being stationary
or moving. Activities such as gymnastics, ballet, skiing require balance.

• Reaction Time - Refers to the amount of time taken for you to respond to a
stimulus (based on sight and touch).

• Speed - Refers to the ability to move your body from one point to another as
fast as possible. Activities such as soccer, baseball and gymnastics require
speed.

• Coordination - Refers to the ability to use your body parts, muscles, to move
smoothly and accurately.
• Power – Refers to the application of speed and strength to produce a
muscular movement. Almost all sports require power to perform well.

Measurement Of Body Mass Index.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person's weight and
height. BMI is a fairly reliable indicator of body fatness for most people. It can be
considered an alternative for direct measures of body fat. It is also an
inexpensive and easy-to-perform method of screening for weight categories that
may lead to health problems. By knowing your BMI, you will be able to know
whether you are normal, overweight or obese, and wasted or severely wasted.
The formula to compute for BMI is

Taking into the description of one’s body, mind, emotions and spiritual life,
holistic health combines the best of modern scientific diagnosis and monitoring
techniques with both ancient and new health promotion method.
HOLISTIC HEALTH

These include natural diet and herbal remedies, nutritional supplements,


exercise, relaxation, psycho- spiritual counseling, meditation, breathing exercises
and other self-regulatory practices. It addresses not only symptoms, but the entire
person, and his or her current life dilemma, including family, job, and religious life.
It emphasizes prevention, health maintenance, high-level wellness and strength. It
views the client as an active participant in the healing process, rather than simply a
passive recipient of "health care".

• INTELLECTUAL - Challenge yourself; ask questions, be open to new ideas,
learn new skills, be imaginative and do interesting mental activities these help
us healthy and young at mind.
• SPIRITUAL - Spiritual wholeness is an important contributor to good health, it
brings harmony, focus direction and balance to our lives. This principle in
which we believe essence of our being.

• SOCIAL - As a member of the community, being well-integrated encourage
personal growth. A supportive social network also contributes to emotional
health, happiness and help us make healthier choices.
• PHYSICAL - Best possible physical health occurs when our bodies are
functioning at their highest potential. This results from healthy habits such as
good nutrition, an active lifestyle, regular sleep pattern and avoiding harmful
habits such as smoking, drug use, or heavy drinking.

• OCCUPATIONAL - Satisfaction and pride of supporting ourselves and our
family, and realizing the impact our chosen career field has on the society we
live in give our lives a sense value and importance. Fulfillment from our jobs
also gives us daily purpose sense of value and importance.

Wellness starts with you, your choice in choosing to live a quality life. The
following is a helpful guide in journey to health and wellness.

1. Schedule A Me Time – A quiet and personal.

2. Do The Things You Enjoy Doing - Nurture yourself by doing the things you
love to do the most.

3. Get Enough Sleep - Sleep is very important for the health of all systems.

4. Keep Your Feet Moving - Exercise, exercise, exercise!

5. Mindful Eating - Review your eating habits.

6. Leave Your Work At Workplace – Allow yourself to enjoy simple moments


doing ordinary things like laundry, reading your mail or drinking coffee or eating
hearty meal without being disturbed.

7. Say “No” When You Have To - Create a space in your life for moments that
bring joy and say “no” when you have to.

8. Relaxing Day Off- When it is your day off make sure you don't engage in work.

9. Bonding With Family – Use family time to create good memories for the
family to treasure.

10. One On One Bonding - Okay so there are moments that you need to do
things one on one just you and me time.

11. Time for Friends – Friendship is a wonderful avenue to have fun, expand
your world and laugh over your silly escapades or do stuff that you enjoy doing
the most.
