GEOMETRY II
- An Introduction :

Presentation by:

Jayati Mukherjee
Associate Professor
NIFT Kolkata
Objective of learning :
  Geometry II

- Knowledge
 To deal with complexity of imagination and visualisation with the help of geometry.
 To understand basic geometric relationships of space filling forms (2D and 3D).
 To comprehend a complex large structure in terms of fundamental basic units.

Skill
 To inculcate skills and precession for creating 3D structures
 To simulate 2D hand drawings into 3D space filling structures

Synthesis
 To stimulate mathematical imagination based on the fundamentals of geometric logic.
 To develop an analytical and evolving mind while appreciating and representing the structure of forms.

Geometry : In Nature
Everything in the natural world is based on Geometry

Children are instinctively attracted to geometry. As the child adapts to her world,
she takes in impressions that are geometric. All natural symmetries are multiples of
2, 3, or 5. The same mathematical patterns or forms are repeated again and again

It has a direct similarity with the cave painting of early humans – shows how the
inherent geometry is perceived though vision

3
Interpreting In Nature
Forms and shapes in nature – landforms, waterbodies , flora and fauna, natural
forms , patterns – all are based on Geometry . Our vision interprets it instinctively
as the human body is based on Geometry
