8 POINTS FOR BEING GOOD CONSULTANT
1. FAIL TO PLAN = PLAN TO FAIL
• Before Casting concrete
• 1). Check concrete Brand / Spec ( CPAC/CHIPMONG/DIBP…. 30Cylinder, Cube test , 7
or 14, or 28 day)
• 2). What time concrete arrive ? Is there QC to check site condition before casting ?
• 3). Checklist before casting
• 4). Vibrator
• 5). Sika latex
• 6). How to order concrete ? Spacing 5mins 15mins ? 1 Truck how many m3?
2. Shift responsibility to Contractor ? Yes, 90%
• 1). How owners know we do the job ?
• 2). Send all questions/photo/checklist to Groupchat with owner/contractor
making sure contractor has done all the checklist before allowing to cast concrete
• 3). Quiet = approval = take responsibility
3. Always confirm and double confirm 2-3 hours
before actual work
• 1). Good consultant always thinks ahead , and knows what contractor plans to
do
• 2). Communicate with owners , always give suggestion for better result
4. REMEMBER DRAWING
• 1). Always have a good understanding of all drawing, and grid line
• 2). Missing columns ? ( combined structure with archi drawing )
• 3). MEP preparation complete before casting ?
5. Actual Casting concrete
• 1). What is consultant duty ?
• 2). Just stand and inspect ?
• 3). 1 person in charge of everything ?
• 4). Check key points only : slump , concrete delivery order , timing , 1 time how
many metre of concrete ? ( 0.5m-1m )
• 5). Stay up or stay down ? If you are just 1 person
6. What to do before finishing casting ?
• 1. check axis/ alignment ( especially column )
• 2. prepare cover ( cloth, plastic … )
• 3. smooth surface or rough surface ?
7. Next Day Inspection
• 1. check for unusual cracking / spotting
• 2. always water !!! 3 times per day
8. Taking out formwork
• How many days ?
• Slab, column, beam
• What if there is honeycomb , crack ?
• Who is responsible ?
• Call my boss to check and decide ?
So Are you a consultant or just site engineer ?
