 The aim of behavior management and Behavior Based Safety Contact program is to encourage the desired behaviors and to
discourage the at-risk or unsafe behaviors.
 This training Program is designed to give CFL employees a basic overview of Behavior Based Safety Program in CFL and re-
emphasize to stop unsafe acts as 80% incidents took place due to unsafe acts.
 All CFL management team up-to executive 2B are required to submit one BBS event in a month through EHS Leadership board

We are carried out series of on floor sessions on emergency preparedness and response with the coordination of all departments.
Still we have covered 78% population. The aim of these sessions is to guide and explain the updated EMP, so that we all must come
on same page and fully aware from our emergency response plan and can safely evacuate out in case of any real emergency.

Behavior Base Safety meeting was arranged with cake line team  in the presence of Cake Line Executive Abdul Sabor. Where
workers were briefed about behavior based safety that how they work safe with their co-workers on work place. Following
points that we covered  in meeting.
• Be considerate of your coworkers. Don’t do
anything that would endanger them. In fact, go a
step further and remind coworkers about safety.
Say something when they ignore the safety rules.
• Your Good behavior identify your personality and
work. Good behave promote your work also.
• Practice good housekeeping. Keep your work area
free of clutter, and clean up spills promptly.
• Do not have fun with each other sometime your fun
convert into serious problem
• Never try to become personal  with your co-

techniques were told to participants

set certain frequency to shift the empty cans to junk yard

COVID-19 is still spreading and the numbers did not stop yet.COVID-19 awareness sessions is the daily feature of
EHS team where following points are the part of discussion
• It is more likely to have high risk of spread when sitting with others in poorly ventilated area
without mask e.g. office stations.
• Wear mask properly everywhere in the office, bazars and outside of home.
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap for at least 20 minutes.
• Use hand sanitizers to keep hand hygiene.
• Avoid hand shake.
• Keep social distance of at least 6 feet.
• Follow cough and sneeze etiquettes.
• Report to dispensary in case of feeling sick.

Safety meeting was conducted on safe storage, handling and disposing off empty ammonium bi-carbonate bags. with RMS team.
 
Ammonium bicarbonate is a very toxic substance and has an adverse effects to human health particularly, irritant to the eyes and
lungs.  Long exposure to ammonia can cause burns to the mouth, throat, and stomach and to avoid all these harmful effects
following safety precautions must be followed

Always use gas respiratory mask in case of exceeding the ammonia permissible limits to avoid ammonia inhaling

Safety shoes are necessary to avoid any foot injury because any wound exposing to ammonia is very dangerous

For weighing and handling of ammonia resistant gloves are mandatory

Job rotation is very important to reduce the exposure of workers with ammonia

Ventilation system provision is necessary

Do not make fun with each other while handling toxic substances

Use safety goggles to avoid eye contact with ammonia

Do not be fast during handling ammonia to avoid ammonia dust emission

EHS team conducted safety meeting with QA lab team. Safe handling and storage of chemicals used in QA lab was discussed.
Safe use of PPEs regarding hazardous chemicals handling was the main focus of meeting. Suggestions from participants were
also taken to make the handling of hazardous chemicals more safe and secure.
 

Discussed Points

Inspection of PPEs before use is mandatory to verify any defective PPEs like rubber gloves used for acid
handling must be inspected before using
QA team arranged spill kit to handle any spill emergency in QA lab. There is a need to ensure testing of spill kit
for effective use in case of emergency.
Ensure effective ventilation system to send the chemical fumes out from workplace
There is a need to monitor the PPMs of chemical fumes to verify that if the fumes exceeding the short term and
long term exposure limits at work place
In order to tackle any fire emergency there is a need to install a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in lab.
Make sure that chemical handling must not be carried out without appropriate PPEs
A PPEs cabin is required to be installed in Lab to keep the Required PPEs safe and in access of every
member of team.

Inspection of Volta road was performed. Purpose of the inspection was to assess the condition of the road because
loading/unloading vehicles of CFL came through this road

Findings
• Potholes on the road were observed which could lead to accident of vehicles.
• Nails were observed on the road which cause of damaged the vehicle tires.
• Uneven road was observed. Loaded vehicles overturn due to uneven road.
• There was Huge dust on the road due to pathetic condition of road. Workers buses come from this road and
create huge dust, dust cause of irritate eyes and throat.
• Smelly rainy water was accumulated on potholes due to poor condition of road.
• There is no proper parking for vehicles on the road. Several time traffic blockage was observed, due to number of
vehicles were waited outside for loading/unloading
• At the time of rainy days, water was accumulated and created the Mud.

Inspection was done of Sangjani Warehouse with Q.A and FGS team as per request by FGS department. After the inspection,
it was observed that number of opportunities in which need to make improvement for safe system of work at warehouse.

Opportunities for improvement:


 Wild grass was observed at ware house premises. That could harmful for walking and also snake hazard was present
there. Need to cut the wild grass.
 Non-standardized loading/unloading bay was observed. Cracks on the bay was found. Shed condition on the bay was
corroded and shed for the vehicles was not available, rain water can entered in vehicle.
 Water seepage was observed from roof of building.
 Emergency exit door was not available. In case of emergency there was not proper emergency exit for evacuation.
 Fire Hydrant system was not available at ware house for tackle any major fire emergency.
 Workers Residence condition was not satisfactory. It can collapse at any time. Cracks was observed on the roof and wall of
rooms.

Cooling tower area inspection was done for find the opportunities for improvement.
Highlighted points are mentioned below

Points for improvement:

• Loose Electric wire was found in egg breaking area. Wire was removed by technical
team.
• Labeling and quality of acid and other chemical tanks need improvement at cooling
tower area
• Slip hazard was found at cooling tower area. Need daily cleaning to remove fungus
and slip hazard
• Two electric wires in one plug was found near dosing area at cooling tower. This
may lead to electrocution. Need to install proper switch with two sockets
• Poor housekeeping was observed at cooling towers area. Need to clean the area to
avoid fire and environmental pollution
• Cable tray was found damaged at cooling towers area which may lead to trip and
fall to workers. Need to install it properly

During the visit of AM of HVAC in cream section, he found that a damper is dislocated which was the main cause of low cooling
in packing area. He advised HVAC operator Mr. Zohaib for installing a sheet to blind the damper. AM HVAC asked the operator for
closing the damper during shift change over while production of cream is not going on and in the presence of HVAC shift
engineer. But operator asked to the technician Mr. Abu baker for performing the job but he did not wait for the shift change over
and started the job immediately without informing to the area supervisor. During installation of blind sheet, head of hammer
suddenly came out from the handle and flown near to people standing in the area. Fortunately, hammer head did not hit
anybody and the job was stopped immediately

Near miss was happened at loading/unloading bay. Master cartons were fell down during manoeuvring of FLT for loading the
master cartons in truck. Suddenly, master cartons loaded on the FLT were imbalanced and fell down on floor. Fortunately, master
cartons not hit anybody. On investigation it was found that operator of FLT joined CFL yesterday. He was sent to duty without
EHS intimation and orientation. FLT operator was also not equipped with safety shoes and tight dress. I had briefed the operator
about safety precautions during FLT operation. As he was going to home due to end of shift A therefore I asked to Tazeer shah to
send the operator in EHS office tomorrow for detailed orientation and precautions for safe fork lift truck operation.
