What is Psychology?

- Study of human behavior and mental processes.

- It serves as a foundation for personal


development.

THEORY
American psychologist
One of the founders of the humanistic approach
to psychology.
Rogers is widely considered to be one of the
founding fathers of psychotherapy research and
was honored for his pioneering research with the
Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions by
the American Psychological Association (APA) in
1956.
“The individual has within himself the capacity
and the tendency, latent if not evident, to move
forward toward maturity.”

Known for his PERSON-CENTERED THEORY


(Rogerian Therapy).

- The ideal self in childhood is not the ideal
self in our teens or late twenties.
