HOMEOSTASIS IN

HUMAN BODY
HOMEOSTASIS

“Maintenance of internal body temperature at equilibrium

despite changes in the external environment.”

Example:
Human body temperature is 37°C
ORGANS

There are Three organs that help in homeostasis

 Lungs
 Skin
 Kidney
SKIN
 Consist of two layers
i. Epidermis (outer protective layers)
ii. Dermis (inner layer)
 Important role in regulation of body temperature.
 Thin layer of fat cells in dermis insulates the body.
 Goosebumps
 Cooling effect
 Removal of metabolic waste
LUNGS

 Maintain concentration of carbon dioxide

 Our cells produce carbon dioxide when they perform
cellular respiration.
 From cells, carbon dioxide diffuse into tissue fluid and
from there into blood.
 Blood carries carbon dioxide to lungs from where it is
removed into air.
KIDNEYS

 Kidneys filters excess water, urea, salts, uric acid

etc., from blood and forms urine and the ureter carry
urine from kidneys to urinary bladder.
 The bladder temporarily stores urine until it release from
body.
