Attack on quadratics

PERFORMANCE TASK // GROUP #3

Attack on Quadratics is an educational game inspired by one of
the famous anime “Attack on Titan”. Us, computer engineers
wanted to attract our players by not only the quadratic equations
we teach but also by the graphics and animation of our game. You
may ask why we chose anime as our game design. Well, base on
our research 40-60 % of our target players (elementary – high
school) watches anime. The games purpose is to educate users
while having fun or without getting bored. My team wanted to
create this game to break the stereotype in people’s head that
educational games are “boring”. In this game, players would build
the form of trust, teamwork, improvement of problem solving
skills and the capability of solving fast & mentally.

ARE YOU READY TO ATTACK THE QUADRATICS?

The game mechanics are as easy as ABC!
First of all, the players must choose their characters on the beginning
of the game. Then the game would randomly group them into 4. The
teams now must pick what map they want to play by undergoing
what we call the “Choose Your Fate”; different maps contains
different world with different titans. After “choosing your fate” the
teams are now given quadratic equations to solve, by a step by step
procedure and are assigned with different ways to solve them
[Extracting square root, Factoring, Completing the Square, Quadratic
Formula]. The more you answer by a step by step procedure
correctly, the weaker the titan gets. You’re not just competing with
other teams to win first on defeating the titan but your competing
with the titan as well. The more you solve slowly the stronger the
titan gets.
