Ultrasound

Haseeb
Introduction:

Ultrasound is a type of sound pressure wave, that has a higher frequency than
human hearing is able to detect. It is a device that uses high frequency sound
waves to create an image of some part of the inside of the body, such as the
stomach, liver, heart, tendons, muscles, joints and blood vessels. Ultrasound
would use sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body.
Ultrasound is a type of machine that does not use radiation so it is mostly
preferable for some tests of you body. It can provide a view of many different
parts of the body so it is recommended as it has no radiation.
It monitors the ultrasound reflected by objects in the protected zone. If anything
moves, it produces a change in the phase of some of the reflec.ted waves
How it works?

 Ultrasound works when the machine transmits high frequency sound pulses into
your body by using a probe, this is a type of instrument that would be used to
scan over certain parts of the body and examine it.
 Then the sound waves travel into your body, some of the sound waves get
reflected back to the probe, while some travel on further until they reach a
boundary and get reflected.
 The reflected waves are picked up by the probe and then are transmitted to
the machine.
 Then the machine calculates the distance from the probe to the boundaries
using the speed of sound.
 Finally the machine displays the distances and intensities of the echoes on the
screen, forming an image.

measurements of the image.
The transducer receives electrical
currents from the CPU and sends
electrical pulses that are created by
returning echoes. The CPU does all of
the calculations to produce an image
on the monitor.

Ultrasound Machine

The ultrasound machines can be different there are many different

types of them with different prices, some have a high cost.
Just a small portable ultrasound machine can cost up to around
£1126.47 such as this one:

The larger machines would cost more

And would be used in hospitals.

The larger machines would cost a lot

More than the portable ones.
