The oceans cover over 70% of the Earth's surface and play a key role in regulating the planet's climate and supporting biodiversity. However, increasing marine pollution from land-based sources has degraded water quality and threatens ocean life. Plastic pollution in particular poses a major risk. To reduce ocean pollution, individuals should use fewer plastics, avoid chemical fertilizers and products harmful to oceans, and adopt sustainable practices like recycling and reducing their carbon footprint. Collective action through beach cleanups is also important to help protect oceans and marine life.

Importance of Oceans to Mankind The oceans cover over 70%of the Earth’s surface, carry out about 50% of global primary production and support the greatest biodiversity on the planet. They are also one of the largest carbon reservoirs in the Earth system, holding up to 54 times more carbon than the atmosphere. The oceans therefore: • Regulate the Earth system • Supply living and non-living resources • Provide social and economic goods and services • It is an important source of food. • Connects continents and islands • If we could capture just 0.1% of the oceans kinetic energy caused by tides , we could satisfy the current global energy demand 5 times over. However plastics contamination poses the biggest threat, the list of pollutant to the marine environment remains long with sewage, pesticides, industrial chemicals and other garbage. • Ocean Dumping • Ocean Acidification • Oil Spills • Plastic Pollution Links to be opened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_s6eOPqg-c Solutions to reduce Ocean pollution Ocean pollution is a combination of chemicals and trash, most of which comes from land sources and is washed or blown into the ocean. This pollution results in damage to the environment, to the health of all organisms, and to economic structures worldwide. Here are some practical ways that you can help reduce ocean pollution: • Use fewer plastics • Avoid chemical fertilizers • Recycle Lower your energy use • Avoid ocean-harming products • Eat sustainable seafood • Reduce your carbon footprint Links to be opened https://youtu.be/HQTUWK7CM-Y Action plan to be taken • Don’t use Disposable Razors • Plastic garbage bags should be replaced with marine ‘bio degradable’ refuse bags for disposing-off food waste. • Reduce Pollutants. Choose nontoxic chemicals and dispose of herbicides, pesticides, and cleaning products properly. Oceans are getting sicker, let’s do something quicker • beach clean-ups to reduce debris and The oceans deserve our respect and care, trash polluting them is not at all fair • Using supplies that come in reusable or Splash in the water, play in the sand; if the beaches are clean, life is just grand recyclable packaging and containers. The sun and the sand makes beaches beautiful; Link to be opened marine pollution has made their condition pitiful • https:// Don’t treat oceans as universal garbage cans; or gods will ruin your bright future plans.
