FEATURE FILM

ADITI DADHICH
SYNOPSIS
Dark Humor Genre.
This is a story of a boy SAKSHAM, who does not want to follow the norms of society of being the sole
breadwinner of the house and slog all his life.
Born in a middle-class family, of a small town, he is burdened with the pressure of being the boy of the house.
Even before his birth, a list of expectations has been made by his parents, relatives and society. He is trapped in
the traditional social set-up which focuses on the son as being the main breadwinner of the family. He is expected
to earn and take care of his parents in their old age. As a man no matter what, he has to earn money and support
the family. No matter what stress he goes through, he will still be alive and working.
His sister is mediocre in studies, but parents are not much bothered because she is fair and good looking. She is
even allowed to do a fancy course of fashion designing. In reverse case, parents are too much worried about
SAKSHAM and he has to sweat his blood to finish his engineering or society will finish him.
SYNOPSIS contd..
Since childhood his wishes are shattered. SAKSHAM always finds it weird why nothing is expected out of
his sister in terms of family responsibilities?
He shares a perfect sibling relationship with his sister, they never talk sweetly but always stand by each
other.
His friends are also facing the same problem in their house. Married or unmarried their situation is terrible.

Finally, Saksham cannot take it anymore, when his parents decide to do something drastic in order to make
him responsible. It is then that SAKSHAM gives them his piece of mind.

Parents expect sons—to provide financial and emotional care, especially in their old age; sons add to family
wealth and property; sons continue the family lineage; sons perform important religious roles; and sons
defend or exercise the family’s power. They do not think about the pressure they put on the boy, his dreams,
his desires.

But, SAKSHAM is not ready to live all his life adhering to this stereotypical system.
