What is COVID-19 virus?

• COVID-19 (previously called novel coronavirus) is a new strain of a


coronavirus that first emerged in Hubei province in China in late 2019

• Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses and can cause the common
cold in humans

• Up to date information in a changing environment – live website e.g.


local health service or agency such as WHO
What do we know about COVID-19?

• Predominant spread by respiratory droplets


• (e.g. someone coughing) and contact (hands → surfaces → eyes and
mouth)

• Spread is similar to seasonal influenza → practicing same precautions


to minimize spread of influenza will provide protection against COVID-
19:

o Basic hand hygiene – hand sanitizer/soap and water


o Cough etiquette – cough into elbow/tissue
o Stay home if feeling unwell
o Encouraging face masks for suspected cases
What do we know about COVID-19?

• Most common symptoms are respiratory symptoms (cough, difficulty


breathing) with or without fever

• Cases may be infectious just before symptoms appear, as well as with


minimal symptoms

• Majority of cases have milder disease, with some having severe


disease

• Severe cases develop pneumonia and respiratory failure

• Deaths have generally occurred in people who are older and who have
underlying health conditions - reports of severe disease in children are
uncommon
Corona Virus SYMPTOMS

It can take up to 14 days for symptoms of coronavirus to appear. The


main symptoms to look out for are:

Fever – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you
do not need to measure your temperature). It is a common sign and also
may appear in 2-10 days if you affected.

Coughing – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or


more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may
be worse than usual).

Shortness Of Breath – Around 1 out of every 6 people who get


COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing or
shortness of breath.
Effect of COVID-19 On Education

 The pandemic has both positive and negative consequences.

 It caused shut down of Education system.

 Created the largest impact on students in Pakistan as well as


the whole World.
Positive Effects
Integration of New technology in Education

 The use of internet has become necessary in almost all walks of life. So, the student
must have Knowledge and how to use it.

 This technology will improve interaction between student and teacher.

 It provides better facility but only when it is use correct.


An Increase in Self Study

 The students has to pay attention to his studies.

 They have to find information and solution about the subject matter form Internet.

 He has to struggle hard to find the best possible solution.


Improvement in Knowledge

 To find the best possible solution the student searches as much as they can to get
the solid and reasonable answers.

 His/Her findings improves his/her knowledge a lot.


Better Subject Material is delivered by the teacher

 The teacher has to be very careful about while delivering his/her lecture.

 As the lecture is recorded. So, the teacher is very careful and delivers better subject
material so that the student may receive it and understand fully.
Pandemic Controlled

 Due to the shut down of educational institutions the pandemic has been control.

 Otherwise, the situation may be worse as the children have weak immune system.
E-learning

 The use of this technology has pushed the level of the student forward. Whereas, In
other, the absence of such technology put to pause the Education System.

 These day to continue study some software are widely used e.g MS Teams, Zoom,
Google Classroom, and some LMS portals.
Negative Effects
Non-Availability of Internet

 Pakistan so high level of technology as compared to other developed countries. So,


the internet services in some areas of Pakistan is not available.
Poverty Issue

 The students have been unable to use the latest technology for online system due to
poverty.

 They are unable to afford the expenses of internet packages.

 So, In this situation it is very difficult for the parents who provide each of their child a
device.
Discontinued and Depressed

 The students who have no been able to continue the regular online classes become
depressed and leave their efforts because they have been used to attend the
classes.

 As a result, they didn’t take interest in studies.


Elementary Education

 Elementary Education is neglected due to the non-availability of efficient, trained


teachers and environment.
Cheating

 Cheating and file sharing has become far easier for the students.

 The study become lazy in the studies and it has spoiled their Moral Values.
Negative effect on the health of the Student

 Due to the closure of Parks and Play ground the students can not participate in such
co-curricular activities.

 Social Distancing has a negative effect on the students because like to play and
group study.

 So, they attach with the electronic devices and the prolong use effect their brain,
eyes.
Conclusion

In conclusion, the above mention are common influence of COVID-


19 pandemic which is responsible for the closure of educational
institutions not only in Pakistan but in most part of the World also.
Some symptoms (outcomes) have been discussed. It shows
advantages and disadvantages of the use of information technologies
in educational activities. It is educational impact analysis also.
