entrepreneurs had started her journey from scratch.
• She has built a popular vegan bag and accessories brand over the
years.

business to a Rs 100 crore plus empire and growing across the
globe.

Early Life
• Nina Lekhi was a meritorious student during her
school days
• Studied at Sophia Polytechnic
• Did part-time courses on textile designing and
interior decoration
• Worked as a salesgirl
 How Baggit started

• Launched Baggit with a friend in 1985

• Visited wholesale markets for raw materials
• Borrowed initial investment of Rs.7,000 from mother
• Used untrained labour- liftman, security guard
• Started off by supplying to Kripalini and Amarsons
• Deal with Amarsons kept cash flowing
• 1986-67 orgainsed exhibitions
• 1989- opened a counter store at the Oberoi Hotel
 Growth Years
• 1985 ("Proving" Herself)- Bursting with energy and highly motivated, the youngster

learnt her first few lessons in retail.

• 1990 (Red-letter day)- Opened a manufacturing unit at Lalbaug.
• 1992- Launched her first exclusive "Baggit outlet" at Kemps Corner in Mumbai.
• 2008- Baggit included franchise agreements into its revenue model.
• 2013- Five of the company's 21 stores were franchised.
• " Today, my attrition rate is near zero," says the entrepreneur.
