PSY 5640 Project Requirements

 You will be broken out into small groups of 8 (depending upon class size).
 The Name of your group will be:
 Biosphere 1, Biosphere 1a

Presentation and typed responses to all questions (individual responses, not group responses to questions) will
be due on 12/02/2021
Individual Papers will be due via email on a Word Document prior to class. The Group Leader will present
the Power Pont Presentation on 4/15/2021. Power Point Presentations will be counted towards your
Participation in class for 4/15/2021. Individual Papers will be graded using 200 possible maximum points if
all required criteria is provided. If you do not participate in your group, this could lead to a possible failure of
this course. You will be broken out into groups during our first class meeting. Commence working on this
Project immediately as there is much required information. Thank you.
Biosphere Requirements

 The biosphere is a totally enclosed facility to be used by humans to live on other planets.
You will be required to live in your biosphere for a period of one year. Once you are
locked into your biosphere, you will no be able to leave/have deliveries of any kind made
to your biosphere. You are not allowed to fraternize with anyone in your biosphere (or
cross over to the other biosphere(s) and fraternize with him or her. Biospheres must be
SELF-SUFFICIENT FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Biosphere Requirments

 1. The first actual mission (Sept. 1991-1993) failed. What was the reason(s) for failure?
 In addition to the above question, here are the remainder of the requirements for this assignment.
 1. What is the shape and size (provide dimensions; drawing) of your biosphere?
 2. Compose a Mission Statement
 3. What type(s) of apparatus does your biosphere hold?
 4. What are the Titles of your biosphere personnel as well as their job descriptions; duties;
education required; skills and talents required; is job going to grow and/or stagnate; salary of each
position. Use O*NET to obtain this information. Each Job Title you hold must be in-depth
using O*Net in your individual paper – DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THE O*NET
INFORMATION. DOING SO WILL RESULT IN A GRADE OF “0” FOR YOUR
INDIVIDUAL PAPER.
Biosphere Requirements

 5. What type(s) of environmental rooms will be housed in your biosphere?

 6. What type(s) of programs will be addressed in your biosphere?
 7. Name and describe your Model Ecosystems that includes an Urban Ecosystem.
 8. How will your Science Programs address societal issues/challenges related to water
and environment?
 9. Describe how you will sustain a planetary ecosystem analog.
Biosphere Requirements

 Remember, once you are locked into your biospheres you may not leave. You CANNOT
CONTACT THE OTHER BIOSPHERE(S) OR ANYONE OUTSIDE OF YOUR OWN
BIOSPHERE.
 You will be provided with a phone which has direct access to a live person in the event of
an emergency.
 The software In your computers will block out people/sites you should not be in touch
with. You cannot “order out” for anything. This will be for a period of one year.
 Your biosphere Power Point will be presented during live session on 12/02/2021 by the
Group Leader.
