 All personnel have a responsibility to make themselves
familiar with the hazards in their workplace, i.e..
 Work being carried out in the office
 Equipment used in the office
 Layout of office equipment and materials in the building
 Substance being used in the office that may be harmful

 Smoking Policy - No Smoking inside building
 if you are a smoker, do so outside,

 Recycle waste paper

 Housekeeping
 keep the lunchroom and your office tidy,
food scraps attract both rats & mice

 Staff safety meeting’s shall be held monthly

 Housekeeping
 Poor housekeeping is the main cause of office accident's
Leads to fires & often personal injuries
 Passageways must be kept clear
 Chairs, file cabinets, desks shall be repaired or
replaced if they become damaged
 Stored materials must be neatly stacked
 Don’t store flammable liquid (paint/thinner etc) in the office
 Torn, loose or damaged carpet must be repaired

 Electrical Safety
 Electric cords should be examined for frayed or bare wires
 Don’t use too many extension cords and double adapter plugs
 they get hot, melt and cause fires
 Cover extension/phone cords (if they cross walk areas)
 Electric fans shall be protected with a mesh grill

 Fire
 If you see a FIRE, sound the alarm by:-
 Shouting, fire-fire-fire
 Activating the fire alarm switch (call point)
 Call Fire Marshall for floor, if not available
 Call Building Management / security

 Simple first-aid Instructions


 Shortness of Breath, Heart Attack, Athsma Attack
 make patient comfortable, keep clam (everybody)
 reassure patient that help is on its way (make sure it is !)
 DO NOT move patient
 DO NOT allow patient to drive to the clinic,
 he/she must be driven and accompanied by another competent person
 this action may save a life, especially in a heart attack

 C.P.R. (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)


 IF, your patient appears to have stopped breathing, it may be necessary to
perform C.P.R. thus
 S.R.A.B.C
 S - Safety (the Safety of yourself and your patient, never expose yourself
to the chance of being another victim)
 R - Response (ascertain the level of consciousness of the patient by
Shake and Shout, if NO response proceed to the
next step)
 A - Airway (does the patient have an airway ?)

 B - Breathing (is the patient breathing ?)

 C - Circulation (is the patient’s heart beating - circulation)

 C.P.R.
 A.B.C.
 A - Airway (does your patient have an airway, if YES, fine, if NO
open the airway by gently tilting the head backwards)

 B - Breathing (is your patient now breathing, if YES fine, if NO


commence expired air resuscitation, with 5 quick breaths
to hyperinflate the lungs, thereafter 1 breath every 5 seconds +/-

 C - Circulation (is you patients heart beating - circulation, if YES, fine,


if NO, immediately start external cardiac compressions,
1 per second +/-)

 CPR should be at a rate of 5 compressions to every 1 breath of air, either alone of with
assistance. 5 : 1

 NO Drugs - on company premises
 NO Alcohol - on company premises

 Personnel found to be under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol at work will be


subject to immediate disciplinary measures

 This Safety Management Plan provides the framework for
managing work-site Health and Safety activities.

 It consists of some (17) elements which address procedural and

 Safety Manual
 This Safety Manual is a working document which describes the
standards expected of those performing and supervising the work.

 It consists of eighteen (18) sections relevant to the type of work being


conducted by personnel.
