• tourism entails the movement of people to countries or places outside their
usual environment for personal or business/professional purposes. These
people are called visitors. Generally speaking, a visitor is classified as a
(same-)day visitor if their trip does not include an overnight stay and a tourist
if it does include an overnight stay. The purpose of their trip can be for
business, leisure or personal reasons, other than to be employed by a resident
entity in the country or place visited.
TOURISM IN HIMACHAL PRADESH

• Himachal Pradesh, India’s snow-laden province, is the 21st largest state in India
and there are records to show that this hilly region has been inhabited since pre-
historic times. All through its history, the region has been ruled by local kings and
empires.
• The main occupation of the people is agriculture, horticulture and hydropower, all
made possible because of the several perennial rivers that flow through the state.
It is the same rivers that have lent their charm to the picturesque vistas that the
land is dotted with.
TOURISM IN KERALA

• Kerala tourism is increasing at a high alarming rate. We can see thousands of


tourist flowing to Kerala yearly. Known for the scenic beauty, natural beauty
and other attractions, Kerala tourism never had to look back ever in its growth.
Kerala is known for its densely forested mountain ranges comprising the
Western Ghats and covering tropical evergreen, deciduous and semi-deciduous
jungles that are home to some rare, exotic plant life and wildlife species. These
hill stations and high range zones are the favourite haunts of nature and
wildlife enthusiasts.

• Tourism as a modem term is applicable to both international and domestic tourists. It
is the temporary movement of people to destinations outside their normal place
of work and residence. Such a pleasure-seeking tourist is a traveller moving from
place to place or visiting the same place time and again.
• Tourism drives economic prosperity and sustained development in many regions
around the world. ... Any tourism destination (be it a country, region, or municipality)
or any tourism company needs to leverage its managerial and marketing strategies,
tactics, and tools to achieve and maintain sustained competitive advantage.
