Describing the users and features of the game
The Pac Man game has a main menu, which is colourful, but has very basic graphics, it is
very easy to navigate . The main audio from Pac Man is sound effects only and has no other
background music with the game.
The controls of Pac Man are basic with up, down, right and left, normally played with a
joystick.
The main focus of Pac Man is to navigate around a maze and simply eat the dots on the
screen until you have eaten all the dots and go to the next level, but there are ghost that
will follow you round and try and eat you and you only have three lives before you would
have to start the game again. There are times in the game where you get extra power and
you can eat the ghosts, they turn transparent and have to go back to the start room after
the power is finished, which will help eat the rest of the dots and can also give you another
life and your score will go up. The graphics in Pac Man are 2d which is made up as pixels.
Pac Man was made on the 22 May 1980.
Discuss how it fits its purpose to entertain
This game was fit for its purpose and entertaining, it was simple to
operate and was a fun and easy game to play, which meant anyone
could play it and enjoy it, this game became very addictive and was
played originally in arcades and everyone was determined to get the
highest score, a lot of people would play it for hours just so there score
remained at the top.
Over the years the game has been slightly modified and you can still
find Pac Man in pubs, homes etc, so although this game is basic it has
captured the nation for entertainment and 40+ years on it is still a
favourite game people like to play.
Identify the audience for the game
• The original audiences for Pac Man would of been for the older
teenager who were old enough to go into a pub or into some arcades.
• When it was made in 22 May 1980, this game was not available
to play at home, so the audience was restricted.
• It was aimed to entertain both men and women, as previous
games were more about war and fighting which only appealed
more to men, so this game was to be enjoyed by everyone.
Discuss the effect the game will have on the
audience
The effect this game had on the audience was it was fun to play alone
or have competitions with your friends.
The game became very completive and very addictive who ever played
it.
The game was unique at the time and everyone could understand the
aim of the game and how to play it.
Everyone always wanted to be the highest scorer.
Discuss the strengths and weakness of the
game
• A weakness for this game is that there is very basic sound effects, which
does become annoying after awhile.
• To improve this I would of added different sounds in the background to
give it a more dynamic feel to the game.

• The strength of the game is that it made you become very addicted to
it, although very simple in visual terms, it’s a game you wanted to
continue to play to be at the top of the scoring table.
• This is why all arcades had this machine as it would make them lots of
money.
Sways describe the uses and features
The sway has a lot of pictures on it and has a lot of videos as well the
Sway is used for education purpose and anyone can make a sway. The
layout is very basic. The sway also has a share button and there is a
button to change the layout to Fullscreen. The sway also has quiz at the
end to see what they have learned about the information on the sway.
Discuss how it is fit for its purpose to inform
and teach
The purpose of sway is to educate children in a simple and easy way
that they can be understood.
By using children to narrate some short online videos, this helps the
children to understand the information better, they also use bright
colours and short paragraphs to read.
Identify the audience for the sway
The audience age is for primary level children, as it needs to be
informative, but simple enough for them to understand the basics
information you want them to learn.
The colours are chosen to fit the age group which is researched into
what is appealing and eye catching for that age. The voice over is easy
to understand as they use the same age children to narrate the videos.
Discuss the effect the sway will have on
audiences
The effect sway will have on its audience is to keep the audience
interested in the subject they are learning and if the information is
simple to understand the more the children will want to learn.
If the layout is bright and colourful and the information is easy to read
and listen too, then the audience will be more engaged on learning the
subject.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the
sway
• A weakness for the sway is that it was all based around young
children, it would have been no interest for any other age group.
• They could of made it somewhere in the middle so that all children
and young adults would be interested in it.

• The Strengths of the sway is it shows videos and the narrative done by
children and gives good simple understanding information.
• This is good as it is more likely the children will relate to this rather
than an adults voice and more grown up images.
