Public speaking is anytime you
have to speak in public.

It is speaking to a group of
people in a structured,
deliberate manner intended to
inform,influence,or entertain
the listeners.

In public speaking,as in any


form of communication,there
are five basic elements,often
expressed as “who is saying
what to whom utilizing what
medium with what effects ?”
Purpose of public speaking
It can range from simply transmitting information,to motivating people to act,to simply
telling a story.A good orator should be able to change the emotions of their
listeners,not just inform them.

We need to know the art of public speaking when talking to a group of people about
our views on project.

Even though it is another way of communication,it differs from personal


communication .

1. Speeches that inform

or even ask their opinion
Fear of public speaking
 The fear of public speaking is
called glossophobia(or“stage
fright”).

 It is believed to be single
most common phobia-
affecting as much as 75% of
population.

 Fear of oration is ranked


even above that of death.
