Read the communication scenario inside the box and gain insights about
what communication is.

A student, who lives in an apartment near the university


where he enrolls, wants some money for his rental and his
monthly allowance. Using his android phone, he sends a text
message to his father asking to send him money. The father
sends money through Palwan Express Pera Padala, along with
a text message cautioning his son to be responsible in
spending it. In both cases (sending the money and text
message), the father is responding to the communication
initiated by his son.

Nature of Communication
1. Communication is a process.
2. Communication occurs between two or more
people(the speaker and the receiver)

words and non- verbal actions at the same time.
Process of Communication
1. Speaker – source of information or message
2. Message – the information , ideas, or thoughts conveyed by the
speaker in words or actions
3. Encoding – the process off converting the message into words,
actions, or other forms that the speaker understands
4. Channel – the medium or the means, such as personal or non-
personal, verbal or non-verbal, in which the encoded message is
conveyed
5. Decoding – the process of interpreting the encoded message of the
speaker by the receiver
6. Receiver – the recipient of the message
7. Feedback – The reactions, responses, or information provided by
the receiver
8. Context – the environment where communication takes place
9. Barrier – the factors that affect the flow of communication
