A very good morning to the principal, teachers and fellow friends. My Greeting – 1m
name is Joshua and I am the president of our school Counselling Club. Last Introduce yourself
weekend, I was given a chance to attend a seminar on ‘Stress Management’
so today I would like to share some of the inputs especially on the causes Purpose – 1m
and way of leading a stress-free life.
Keyword: STRESS
It has recently become a common thing among teenagers to have a General statement
stress. However, many are still failing to acknowledge the fact which on the KW.
consequently makes it hard for them to manage the stress. This, as a result, Problem statement
caused them to lead a very unhealthy life, mentally. There are many causes and effect.

Firstly, it could be due to loss of friends. For example, some people are C1 – 1m
having a mental torture because they are being ignored by their classmate.
Some are getting a silent treatment from their close friends. Both are C5 – 1m
causing stress to the victim because it is undeniable that humans need
friends in their life to keep them sane. Having to keep all the feelings to
themselves and there is no one to talk to, could make one lose their sanity.
Other than that, it could be caused by major illness faced by some C2 – 1m
people like being diagnosed with cancer or having albinism which makes
them an albino. These diseases affect their physical appearance such as
losing hair, being skinny and having an all-white hairs on body and face and
consequently damage their self-esteem. This feeling of unworthiness could C6 – 1m
cause them to have a great stress or worst, depression.

Another common reason behind teenager’s stressful life is their


unsupportive surrounding that comes from people who are close to them
such as friends and family. For example, peer pressure. It is usually C6 – 1m
worsened by another pressure coming from parents. This kind of pressure C7 – 1m
makes them doubt their own potential and weaken their confidence level.
As a result, they would feel very stressful to catch with their friends and
family’s expectations.

For someone to manage their stress and lead a happier life, there are
many suggestions and help to consider. It is important for them to make
times for their own hobbies and interests. It is believed that by engaging C8 – 1m
yourself with the things you love, it tends to get you focus on the moment
which also helps you taking a break.
Be sure to get enough rest and sleep. It enables the body to repair and C8 – 1m
be fit and restore your mind so that you are ready for another refreshing
brand-new day. For those who are suffering with some complicated illness,
seek out social support and accept the fact that there are things that you C9 – 1m
cannot control. Cultivate gratitude, stop reliving in the past and focus on the C10, C11,C12 – 3m
present. Being grateful for what you have is a powerful antidote to stress.

In conclusion, there are many reasons that stressed out people; lack of
money, social problems and poor health. To acknowledge it in the first place Summarising

we are having in our life and mind, can be demolished with some power of

students are stressed. Stress is unhealthy for students. Students must avoid General statement
stress and be calm. There are many ways on how to cope with stress. on the KW.

society. If it is left untreated and becoming too much, students can end up General statement
having depression or burnt out. Therefore, it is vital for students to know on the KW.

It is said that being active can boost your feel-good endorphins and
distract you from daily worries. Thus, it is important for you to have a
regular exercise. If you think it consumes your energy and time, try to play C1 – 1m
sports that you enjoy like basketball, football or badminton. You can also C2 – 1m
take up hobbies that require you to be outdoor such as hiking and rock C3 – 1m
climbing. To make those activities even more enjoyable, listen to music all C4 – 1m
along.
Sometimes, being caught up with too much work may stressed you
out. Having a check-list is helpful in this case as a systematic plan reduces C5 – 1m
your anxiety because it enables you to expect the estimated due and
prioritize the priorities. It is also wise to make a study group with your C6 – 1m
classmates so that you can work together on a task and delegate the burden
equally. As a saying goes, many hands make light work.

Apart from that, healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Students


should not neglect on the importance of eating balanced meals and get C7 – 1m
enough sleep. Foods that are high in salt or are heavily processed increase C8 – 1m
water retention in the body giving you a heavy, fatigued feeling. Meanwhile,
getting enough sleep is important for various aspects of brain function.

In coping with stress, the most important part is to let others know
what you are feeling inside. Keeping things to yourself is unhealthy and it
will eventually cause you to overthink everything. Therefore, if there are
something bothering you, feel free to ask a counsellor for some advice or C9 – 1m
talk to your family. Another option is to have your own journal where you C10, C11 – 2m
can let out your inner thoughts in a form of words. A heart-to-heart session C12 – 1m
with a close friend and be honest about your feelings are helpful too. C13 – 1m
To put it in a nutshell, stress is manageable. Although each person
deals with stress differently, finding your own unique and varied ways to
cope with it are essential because it can prevent you from having a
prolonged stress.
