SEMINAR PRESENTATION
ON
DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS

Under the Guidance of: Presented By:

Prof.K V Pramod Akash Kaggod
Usn:2SD17CV009
INTRODUCTION
 Demolition is bringing down the building and
other structure safely.
 The demolition of structure with the help of

explosive is called as implosion.

 The main objective for demolition may be the

age of the structure.

 Method of demolition depends upon the type

of structure, height and surrounding

structure.

DEMOLTION OF A BUILDING
STEPS BEFORE DEMOLITION

 Surveying

 Removal of hazardous materials

 Preparation of plan
SURVEYING
 Study of different parameters of the structure
and its surrounding.
Record Drawings
The construction materials
Adjoining properties and site conditions
Available site area to demolition
REMOVAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIAL

 Asbestos containing material

 Soil contamination material
PREPARATION OF PLAN
 The location of the building to be
demolished
 A layout plan of all floors of the buildings to

be demolished
 The structure support systems
 Time and frequency
 A temporary parking layout for mobile

machines and trucks

Emergency exit
 Properly protected
 Free of obstruction
 Properly marked with exit signs
METHODS OF DEMOLITON
EXPLOSIVE DEMOLITION

ADVANTAGES OF EXPLOSIVE
DEMOLITION

 Less expensive
 No ground vibration
 Quickest method
 Suitable for multi-storey / high piers,

cabins, distressed piers etc.

How building implosion works
 Explosive demolition is the preferred method
for safely and efficiently demolishing largely
structures. When a building is surrounded by
others buildings, it may be necessary to
“implode” the building, the building, that is,
make it collapse down into its footprint.
 Demolition blasters load explosive on

several different levels of the building so

that the building structure falls down on
itself at multiple points. When everything is
planned and executed correctly, the total
damage of the explosives and falling
building material is sufficient to collapse the
structure entirely, so cleanup crews are left
with only a pile of rubble.
 In order to demolished a building safely,

blasters must map out each element of the

implosive ahead of time.

CONCLUSION
 It can be concluded that
demolishing/imploding the building structure
will prove very useful, economical and quickest
for reconstruction.
 Leads to a safe and controlled demolition for

the occupants and neighbourhood.

 Development in techniques allow rapid

demolition with no harm to the environment.
