Electric traction motor

• Using power from the traction battery pack, this motor drives the
vehicle's wheels. ... It also communicates with the charging
equipment and monitors battery characteristics such as voltage,
current, temperature, and state of charge while charging the
Electric traction motor
• This unit manages the flow of electrical energy delivered by the
traction battery, controlling the speed of the electric traction motor
and the torque it produces.
Dc/dc converters
• In electric engineering, a DC to DC converter is a category of power
converters and it is an electric circuit which converts a source of direct
current (DC) from one voltage level to another, by storing the input
energy temporarily and then releasing that energy to the output at a
different voltage.
Thermal cooling system
• In an electric vehicle, the cooling system is regulating the temperature
of the battery pack and some of the electronics. Most electric vehicles
use a cooling loop. This loop usually contains an ethylene glycol
coolant. The coolant is circulated through the batteries and some of
the electronics, using an electric pump.
Traction battery pack
• An electric-vehicle battery (EVB, also known as a traction battery) is a
battery used to power the electric motors of a battery electric vehicle
(BEV) or hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). These batteries are usually
rechargeable (secondary) batteries, and are typically lithium-ion
batteries.
Charge port
• Every EV has what's called a charging port, usually behind a small
door in a fender that looks like the door on a gasoline or diesel-fuel
filler. Sometimes the charge port is at the front or rear of the vehicle.
Regardless of where it is, that's where you plug in the charging cable.
Transmission
• Electric cars don't require multi-speed transmissions because of the
so-called “engine” in an electric car, an electric motor. While internal
combustion engines require multiple gears with different ratios for
power output, electric motors produce a consistent amount of torque
at any given RPM within a specific range.
Onboard charger
• An on-board charger (OBC) is used in an electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid
electric vehicle (HEV) to charge the traction battery. The On-Board
charger system described in the material below converts the AC input
from the grid to a DC input which charges the battery.
Battery
• A Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery used in
electric vehicles and a number of portable electronics. They have a
higher energy density than typical lead-acid or nickel-cadmium
rechargeable batteries.
