Professional Learning
•- is the ongoing learning, where teachers
continually work to improve their teaching to achieve better outcomes for their students. •- one method that can be used for effective professional learning is Action Research

What is Action Research?
It is a process in which teachers examine their own
education practice systematically and carefully using the technique of research. It is based on the following assumptions: 1. Teachers and principals work best on problems they have identified 2. Teachers and principals become more effective when encouraged to examine and assess their own work and then consider ways of working differently. 3. Teachers and principals help each other by working collaboratively. 4. Working with colleagues help teachers and principals in their professional development.

What is Action Research?
it is typically designed and conducted by
practitioners who analyze data from their workplace to improve their own practice.

I. Context and Rationale The context and rationale should be designed to attract the reader's attention and explain the focus of the research. You will introduce your overview of the topic, your main points of information, and why this subject is important. You can introduce the current understanding and background information about the topic. Toward the end of the introduction, you add your thesis statement, and explain how you will provide information to support your research questions. This provides the purpose, focus, and structure for the rest of the paper. They should be broad in scope. 2. They should be research questions (questions about the action) rather than data collection questions (questions to be asked of participants in an interview or on a survey). 3. They should, when answered, have an impact on your practices. 4. They should be answerable.

III. Proposed Innovation, Intervention, and Strategy • Innovation - a new idea, method, or device - The introduction of something new • Intervention - Action taken to improve a situation - Most common instructional intervention 1. intentional 2. specific 3. formalized

Division of Negros Occidental School Governance and Operations Division Action Research Methodology • Research methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to identify, select, process, and analyze information about a topic. In a research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to critically evaluate a study’s overall validity and reliability. The methodology section answers two main questions: How was the data collected or generated? How was it analyzed?

Division of Negros Occidental School Governance and Operations Division Data Gathering Methods • is defined as the procedure of collecting, measuring and analyzing accurate insights for research using standard validated techniques. A researcher can evaluate their hypothesis on the basis of collected data. In most cases, data collection is the primary and most important step for research, irrespective of the field of research. The approach of data collection is different for different fields of study, depending on the required information.

Data Analysis Plan
• A data analysis plan is a roadmap for how
you're going to organize and analyze your survey data—and it should help you achieve three objectives that relate to the goal you set before you started your survey: Answer your top research questions. Use more specific survey questions to understand those answers.

Qualitative research is an approach for exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups ascribe to a social or human problem. The process of research involves emerging questions and procedures, data typically collected in the participant’s setting, data analysis inductively building from particulars to general themes, and the researcher making interpretations of the meaning of the data.
Quantitative research is an approach for testing objective theories by examining the
relationship among variables. These variables, in turn, can be measured, typically on instruments, so that numbered data can be analyzed using statistical procedures. The final written report has a set structure consisting of introduction, literature and theory, methods, results, and discussion. Like qualitative researchers, those who engage in this form of inquiry have assumptions about testing theories deductively, building in protections against bias, controlling for alternative or counterfactual explanations, and being able togeneralize and replicate the findings.

Ethical Issues • Ethical issues occur when a given decision, scenario or activity creates a conflict with a society’s moral principles. Both individuals and businesses can be involved in these conflicts, since any of their activities might be put to question from an ethical standpoint. Individuals are subject to these issues in their relationships with other individuals or in their relationships with organizations and same goes for organizations.

• A cost estimate is the approximation of the cost of a program, project, or operation. The cost estimate is the product of the cost estimating process. The cost estimate has a single total value and may have identifiable component values.

• A dissemination plan is a plan for disseminating research findings or products to those who will use the information in practice and is something that you should be thinking about early on. It is what will help you get the message out whether it is results of research or a successful intervention.
