to remember when writing or composing an effective
persuasive essay.

Basic Rule: The basic rule in subject-verb
agreement states that a singular subject takes a
singular verb, while a plural subject takes a
plural verb.
Hint: Verbs that end with s are singular. Verbs
do not form their plurals by adding an s as
nouns do. In order to determine which verb is
singular and which one is plural, think of
which verb you would use with he or she and
which verb you would use with they.
Persuasive Essay Writing is concentrated on presenting and defending
your opinion or on urging readers to take a particular course of action or
making the readers agree with an opinion or viewpoint. Sharing your
point of view that would make your readers agree with your opinion is
the main purpose of this writing.
A Persuasive Essay must have the following:
1. Introductory Paragraph- here an argument must be stated
2. Persuasive Words- I think..., I believe..., Some believe that..., in my
opinion, I feel that, surely, for this reason, I’m sure that, It is certain,
etc..should be used in stating the opinion or point of view
3. Evidence-tell factual details that explain why your point is right
4. State your reasons for and against.
5. Questions- must be asked to make your reader keep thinking.

Controversial Statement: CoVid-19 Mass Testing
should be done now!
Significant Opinion: Some people believe that CoVid-
19 Mass Testing is needed to identify who among the
citizens need to be quarantined to avoid the spread of the
virus.

FRONTLINERS: The New Hero of today’s Pandemic

REMEMBER
Persuasive Writing’s main purpose is to get the reader’s agreement
on a matter of opinion. It should always be statements of suitable
opinions that tend to convince which some people may agree or
disagree to believe.
● Always use verbs in present form to express your opinion of a topic
you chose.
● It is a non-fiction writing of argumentative thoughts/ideas that
requires careful word choice that should logically be developed.
● Plan your essay well. You should:
a. Choose a position
b. Understand your audience
c. Do your research about the topic you have chosen
d. Use convincing words as you give your evidence
