Description of the
following Tool and
equipment used in
Caregiving?

Monitoring Vital Signs
Keeping these common tools clean
and in good condition will ensure
that accurate measurements of vital
signs will be taken each time

STETHOSCOPE wiping all parts with soft cloth or
cotton ball moistened with 70
percent isopropyl alcohol. Never

Sphygmomanometer
All parts of a sphygmomanometer, whether mercury, aneroid or digital must be cleaned and sanitized
regularly

wipe the gauge, valve and inflation bulb.
2. Take off the inflation bulb and valves from
the cuff. Close off the end of the tubing with
a tube plug accessory. Also, close off the
port with a cuff port

detergent. If using a washing machine, use
a gentle cycle
4. Allow the cuff to air dry before reassembling
the components of the sphygmomanometer

EQUIPMENT USED IN
MEAL PREPARATION
AIRPOT
- commonly used for dispensing hot water and other liquid
1. Pour out any remaining liquid and set the airpot
aside to cool.
2. Rinse the interior of the airpot with hot water. Use
a sponge-head bottle clearner to remove any loose
debris or mineral deposits. Rinse again with hot
water
3. Fill the airpot with hot water and add two or three
drops of mild dish washing liquid. Let the solution sit
for about 10 minutes. Then, using a sponge-head
bottle Clearnet, rub the interior of the airpot
thoroughly. Pour out the soapy water and rinse
thoroughly.

4. Refill the airpot with hot water and add two tablespoons of
white vinegar. Leave to soak for one hour. Do this every month or
when any mineral deposit are seen inside the airpot
5. Put the lid on and dispense some of the
vinegar solution out of the spout. This will
clear the spout of any build up.
6. Take off the lid again and rub the interior
with a sponge-head bottle cleaner. Pour out
the vinegar solution and rinse the airpot
thoroughly with hot water
7. Pour hot water into the airpot and
dispense it trough the spout to remove all
traces of vinegar
8. Use a slight damp microfiber cloth to
wipe the lid and exterior of the airpot. Wipe
it dry afterwards. If the exterior has stains,
put one or two drops of mild detergent on
the cloth and wipe the exterior. Wipe off the
detergent using a damp cloth, and then
wipe it dry
BLENDER 1. Clean it right after use
2. Scrub it with a sponge
for deep clean, or you can
blend water with dish
soap for a quick and
efficient clean.
