MEASUREMENT
MEASUREME
NT

 Refers to the abilities of physical

objects generally in terms of quantity.
MEASUREMENT

Standard Instrument
 refers to the physical devices such as ruler,
scales, thermometers @etc.
In the field of Educational Measurement the quantities and qualities of
interest are much more abstract, it cannot be seen, touch, nor observed.
Thus, this makes the measurement process in education more difficult,
but because of this we are going to use the following:

1) Testing
- the most common procedure in measuring students
knowledge of the subject matter.

2) Perception
- student's knowledge of the subject matter is measured
by asking group of experts to rate them in a scale of 1 to
5, 1 will be the lowest and 5 will be the highest.
2 Types of
Measurement

SUBJECTIVE
OBJECTIVE MEASUREMENT
OBJECTIVE
MEASUREMENT
MEASUREMENT
1.Objective Measurement

 Are more stable type of measurements in the

sense that repeated measurements of the same
quantity or quality of interest will produce
more or less the same outcome.

Example: Testing (specifically "multiple choice type of question")

2.Subjective Measurement

 It is unstable and dependent on the perception

of the one doing the rating and it differs from
one assessor to the next even if it has the same
qualityand quantity of interest is being
measured.
Example: Testing (specifically "essay type")
ASSESSMENT

 From the latin word ‘’assindre’’ means “to sit beside”.

 A process of gathering evidence of students’ performance

over a period of time to determine learning and mastery of
skills.

EVALUATION

 From the root word “VALUE”.

 Process to give information regarding the WORTH,

APPROPRIATENESS, GOODNESS, VALIDITY or
LEGALITY .

 A process designed to provide information that will help us

to make a judgement about a particular situation.
