IMPORTANCE OF

VACCINATION AND
HOW TO PREVENT
SEDENTARY
LIFESTYLE
DURING THIS ERA
Health is the greatest wealth we can have in our entire
existence. Health varies amongst individual’s choices, one
may choose to be healthy or value one’s life and one may
not. In this period of life, we’ve encountered so many crisis,
a very good example of this is the global pandemic. This
pandemic paved the way to extinction of humankind,
luckily it never happened. A high percentage of people
suffered death and lives were affected so much.
Many chose to live sedentary out of it and many never
accepted the reality that was given. And all these are caused
by lack of discipline, lack of control, and lack of self-
management towards handling our own life. Life is
beautiful but life can be full of surprises that we can not
expect what will happen in the future.
What is Corona Virus (Covid-19)?

It is defined as illness caused by

novel coronavirus now called severe
acute respiratory syndrome
coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2; formerly
called 2019-nCoV), which was first
identified amid an outbreak of
respiratory illness cases in Wuhan
City, Hubei Province, China.
Most people infected with COVID-19 virus are older
people, while those with underlying medical problems
like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic
respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to
develop serious illness.
Although all age groups are
at risk of contracting COVID-
19, older people face
significant risk of developing
severe illness if they contract
the disease due to
physiological changes that
come with ageing and potential
underlying health conditions.
Most Common Symptoms:

FEVER TIREDNESS

DRY COUGH
Less Common Symptoms:

 Aches and Pains

 Sore Throat
 Diarrhoea
 Conjunctivitis
 Headache
 Loss of taste or smell
 Rashes on Skin
 Discoloration of Fingers or Toes
COVID-19 primarily spreads through:

Physical contact with an Droplets of saliva

What you need to know about COVID-19 vaccines
 Vaccines are safe and effective.
 You may have side effects after vaccination, but these are
normal.
 It typically takes two weeks after you are fully vaccinated for the
body to build protection (immunity) against the virus that causes
COVID-19
 Learn how to find a COVID-19 vaccine so you can get it as soon
as you can.
 People who have been fully vaccinated can start to do some
things that they had to stop doing because of the pandemic.
How to avoid
sedentary lifestyle
during this
pandemic?
This pandemic was regarded as a
milestone that could put each and
every individual into an unhealthy
state. Lockdowns during the COVID-
19 pandemic have made many in the
Philippines adjust to homebound
lifestyles, the abrupt disappearance of
their commutes, and a drastic
increase in time spent sitting.
Factors Affecting Health this Pandemic:
o Sitting too much
o Inadequate exercise
o Eating unhealthy food
o Improper sleeping patterns
o Absence of exposure to sunlight
o Exposure to radiation such as too much usage
of mobile phones and other devices
Factors in Achieving Optimal Health:
Stand up and stretch for 30 minutes after a long
period of sitting and laying down
Be productive
Adequate exercise
Do some social activities like bonding with the
family
Eat nutritious food
15-20 minutes of exposure to sunlight
Avoid using devices for long hours
Get plenty of rest
For Older People:
Eat nutritious food and food rich in calcium to
help strengthen the bones and increase bone
density
Get active. Physical activity is an immune
system booster
Get plenty of rest
Take medicinal maintenance as necessary
Stay socially active such as engaging in family
activities
