 Дієслово to be – бути
Як сказати англійською мовою, що хтось чи щось є?
В цьому вам допоможе дієслово to be, яке у перекладі означає бути.
В українській мові воно вживається набагато рідше, ніж в англійській,
і це тому, що українці дієслово є часто упускають.
Наприклад: Я учень. Ви мої друзі. Ми в школі, а вони у дворі.
Як бачимо, дієслів у цих реченням немає. Але ми можемо вставити
дієслово є і зміст не зміниться.
Наприклад: Я є учень. Ви є мої друзі. Ми є в школі, а вони є у дворі.
А от в англійській мові у нас вибору немає. В реченні обов’язково має
бути дієслово є. Але перекласти його англійською мовою не так просто.
Дієслово to be міняє форму залежно від того, про кого воно говорить.
Якщо потрібно сказати про себе, то воно має форму am, якщо мова йде
про когось одного чи один предмет (про 3-ю особу однини), то воно має
форму is, а якщо говоримо про двох чи більше осіб або предметів
(множину), то тоді потрібна форма are.

 The Possessive Pronouns
Присвійні займенники - це слова, які завжди знають, що й кому
належить. Найчастіше вони стоять поруч із іменниками, без них
навіть не ходять у гості до речень.
