What is honesty in Islam?

Islam commands the Muslims to be honest to himself and to

others. ... A Muslim is ordered by Allah to be truthful in his
words and deeds, privately and publicly alike. Honesty in words
implies telling the truth in all situations and under all
circumstances.
What is importance of honesty?
Honesty is not just about telling the truth. It's about
being real with yourself and others about who you
are, what you want and what you need to live your
most authentic life. Honesty promotes openness,
empowers us and enables us to develop
consistency in how we present the facts.
What are examples of honesty?
The definition of honest is someone or
something that is truthful, trustworthy or genuine.
An example of honest is someone telling their
friend that a meal they prepared had too much salt.
An example of honest is a student
admitting they cheated on a test.
Things that show our honesty
•Think before you speak.
•Say what you mean and mean what you say.
•Bend over backward to communicate in an open and
honest fashion.
•Simplify your statements so that everyone clearly
understands your message.
•Tell it like it is rather than sugarcoating it.
•Present both sides of each issue to engender
objectivity.
How to incorporate honesty and integrity into your life
•Keep your word. If you want to establish a solid reputation you must deliver on your promises. ...
•Keep your commitments. ...
•Pay attention to your environment. ...
•Stay focused. ...
•Surround yourself with honest people. ...
•Take responsibility. ...
•Respect others.
Why honesty is always the best policy

Most of us use lies from time to time to avoid difficult

situations and hide our feelings or intentions. However
lying always comes with a price whilst the truth is
invaluable. Here are a few reasons why you should always
be honest:

•The truth will always come out, so by lying you are only
'buying time' but it will probably be worse when it's revealed
that you lied as well.
•You will feel better about yourself if you are honest and
open.
Why honesty is always the best policy

• Others will be able to trust you and trust is the basis for
all relationships.
• Others will seek your honest advice and opinion.
• You won't have to remember and maintain a web of
lies. Lies usually lead to more lies to cover up the initial
lies, creating a vicious cycle.
• Lying is an easy way out, by being honest you learn to
tackle difficult or uncomfortable situations and grow as
a person.
Why honesty is always the best policy
ALWAYS
• Convince yourself that it's better to be honest: if you
don't believe it then you will resort to a lie as soon as
the situation starts to take a negative turn.
• See it as an opportunity to develop: being open and
honest communication are valuable soft skills for
your personal and professional life. So each situation
where you can practice makes you better at it!
