Present Tenses

Present Simple:

•Констатація факту. I live in Ukraine. My mom is a beautician.

•Багаторазово повторювана дія.
Always, often = frequently, usually = as usual, sometimes = from time to time,
rarely =seldom, as a rule
She often goes shopping. We have English every other day.
•Незаперечна істина. Закони природи.
The Earth goes around the Sun. Water boils at 100 C˚.
•Майбутня дія, що відбудеться згідно з розкладом або програмою.
The train Ivano-Frankivsk – Kyiv arrives tomorrow at 10 a.m.
The film starts at 6 p.m.
 Present Continuous
 

• Дія відбувається в момент мовлення.

 Now, right now, at the moment, still. Look! Listen!
I am having English lesson now. It is still raining.
• Майбутня запланована дія. (Ми знаємо час та місце виконання
дії).
Tomorrow, soon, tomorrow morning (evening, afternoon)
We are getting married tomorrow morning.
 Present Perfect

•Дія розпочалась у минулому і триває досі. Перекладаємо на українську мову теперішнім часом.
Слова: for…., for a long time, for two weeks, since …., since then, since May.
I have lived in Kyiv for 2 years.
She has studied at university for 4 years.
•Дія відбулась у минулому, нам не відомо коли і як. Нас цікавить результат, який пов’язаний з
моментом мовлення. Перекладаємо українською минулим часом.
Слова: never, ever, just, already, lately, recently, before, so far, this morning, yet
We have just come home.
He has already translated the article.
 Present Perfect Continuous
 

• Дія розпочалась у минулому і триває досі. Ми хочемо наголосити на тривалості дії. Дієслово
повинно вживатись у тривалому часі.
Слова: How long …, for…., for a long time, for two weeks
I have been living in Kyiv for 2 years.
She has been studying at university for 4 years.
But: I have been here for two hours.
• Для позначення дії, що відбулась у минулому з видимим результатом у теперішньому часі.
You have a black eye. – Yes, I have been fighting.
Everything is wet. It has been raining the whole night.

month
• Present Continuous Now, right now, at the moment, still. Look! Listen!
•  Present Perfect Never, ever, just, already, lately, recently, before, so far, this
morning, for…., for a long time, for two weeks, since …., since then, since May.
• Present Perfect Continuous How long …, for…., for a long time, since ….., all
day
