ABSTRACTION

What is teacher intervention?

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 18
Let’s define!
What is teacher intervention?
• Teacher Intervention is a set of
instructions given to students who are
not performing at their best.
• It contains specific programs for each
group of students identified by the
subject they are struggling with.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 19
Let’s discuss!
What must be considered in selecting or
designing teachers’ interventions for
Modular Distance Learning of the the
struggling learners? SHS

• Maturity level of the students

• Technology and ICT Integration
• MELCS
• IATF regulations in relation to the age of the
SHS students
• THE PROBLEM
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 20
Let’s discuss!

What are some teachers’ interventions

for SHS?

a. Commonly used interventions

• Strategic Intervention Materials (SIMs)
• Supplementary materials
• LAS
• Home visitations

for SHS?
b. Asynchronous Online
Remedial Class
For struggling learners
connection.
with internet
In this intervention, the
teacher will create anonline
asynchronous class and design fun and
engaging online activities needed by the
student/s for remediation.
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 22
Let’s discuss!

for SHS?
c. Synchronous Online Remedial Class
For struggling learners with internet
connection. In this intervention, the
teacher will create an online synchronous
class and design fun and engaging online
activities needed by the student/s for
remediation.
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 23
Let’s discuss!

What some teachers’ interventions for

are
SHS?
d. F-2-F Remedial Classes (Onsite and
Offsite)
Conduct of face-to-face remedial classes is
feasible since SHS students are not covered by
the age restriction of the IATF. Teachers must
assure that health protocols are being followed
and remedial class scheduling must be “well-
set” to limit the number of students in a class.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 24
Let’s discuss!

What are some teachers’ interventions for SHS?

e. E-Learning Hubs (Onsite)
For SHS learners with research subjects and
other research related works. SHS Teachers, in
coordination with the School Head, may make use
of computer laboratory as e-Learning Hubs where
students can use computers and/or browse the
internet for FREE. SHS Teachers may set to it that
health protocols are strictly observed while they
are supervising the learners in making use of
computer laboratory.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 25
Let’s discuss!

What some teachers’ interventions for

are
SHS?
f. Digitalized Modules
For struggling SHS students with smart
phones and other gadgets. Using a software,
such as Kotobee, the teacher will create a
digitalized and interactive module that contains
lessons and activities for remediation.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 26
Let’s discuss!

What are some teachers’ interventions for SHS?

g. Workplace Learning
For SHS students struggling in a skill related
MELC especially under the TVL track. Teachers
will plan and coordinate with the owners of
different workplaces such as stores, technical
shops, establishments, bakeries, offices, etc. near
the students residence. Students can acquire and
enhance their skill/s by observing and experiencing
actual demonstration of skills in the
aforementioned workplaces.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 27
It’s time for grouFIE!
In your group, identify some SHS
related problems then create or design a
TEACHER INTERVENTION taking into
consideration that the target learners are
the SHS struggling students. (Do not
include interventions already mentioned in
this training)

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 28
Example
Problem: Mastery of TVL competencies not met
Intervention: Workplace Learning
Target learners: TVL struggling learners
Description:
Teachers will plan and coordinate with the
owners of different workplace such as stores,
technical shops, establishments, bakeries, offices
etc. near the students residence. Students can
acquire and enhance their skill/s by observing and
experiencing actual demonstration of skills in the
aforementioned workplaces.
