AIM
• To make drainage monitoring system in a highly automotive by using
sensors for detecting and sending alerts through GSM and GPS module to
authorities.
ABSTRACT

• A smart city is the future goal to have cleaner and better amenities for the society. Uneven sewage system
monitoring causes drainage to become clogged. Blockages in the sewer system are a major source of sewer
flooding and pollution. Since manual monitoring is incompetent, this leads to slow handling of problems in
drainage and consumes more time to solve. To mitigate all these issues, this model uses a regular circuit,
sensor driver circuit, microcontroller, serial communication devices and IoT module. The proposed system is
low cost, low maintenance, IoT based real time which alerts the managing station through message when any
manhole crosses its threshold value. Overflowing drains in the sewage system are one of the most prevalent
difficulties identified and in monsoon seasons the problem becomes more severe. If the authorities are
ignorant of the overflowing drains, the solution to this problem is an IoT system that warns municipal
officials about overflowing drains immediately by email or notification at the city control center as well as
citizens through social media.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

• Today's drainage system is not high-tech. So whenever there is blockage it is difficult to figure out the exact
location of the blockage. Also, early alerts of the blockage are not received. Hence detection and repairing of
the blockage become time consuming. It becomes very inconvenient to handle the situation when pipes are
blocked completely. Due to such failure of drainage line people face a lot of problems So, this system
proposes:
• Detect the location
• The system governing the flow of sewage from the pipes.
• Use of flow sensors to detect the variations in the flow.
• Get the prior alerts of blockages and locate them using IOT.
• Trace location using GPS and send SMS through GSM.
OBJECTIVES

• Cleaner cities and intelligent management of drainage in the city.

• Detection of drainage water level and blockages in the drainage.
• Checking water flow rate continuously, as well as sending automatic mail, display on the
monitor if the water level is outside of an expected normal range.
• The main objective is to obtain an effective low-cost and flexible solution for condition
monitoring and infrastructure management in the city.
• Sensing the temperature and leakage of gas and updating it in real time through IoT.

METHODOLOGY
SIGNIFICANCE

• It uses IoT to make the drainage monitoring system as highly automotive by using sensor for
detecting and sending alerts through GSM and GPS module to the authorities.
• In this way, the unnecessary trips on the manholes are saved and can only conduct when required.
FEASIBILITY

• This project will be a good product for the society as it automates the function of the
people to come directly to the place and observe it. This will be a useful product as it
monitors the manhole cover the 24x7. Most of the accidents can be reduced if the
manhole coverage is maintained properly. Thus the project will be a advancement in
safety protection.
APPLICATIONS

• During heavy rains/floods.

• Construction in locality.
• Improper maintenance of manholes.
• Congestion of drainage.
• Irregular check of manholes.
ADVANTAGES

• Helps proprietors, contractors and workers to prevent gas poisoning in drainage work.
• Process can be viewed by authority anywhere at anytime.
• As sensors are used, it takes less size.
• This technology lowers the risk of death for manual scavengers who simultaneously clean
sewage and benefit the general public.
DISADVANTAGES

• High maintenance requirements.

• More computation time.
• High dimensionality.
