EMS

The mission of TC 207 was to develop


the EMS which was identified as ISO
14000.
EMS Concept
1. Environment is defined as the global surroundings in
which an organization operates and includes air, land, water ,
natural resources, flora, fauna, humans and their interaction.
2. Environmental Aspect: an element of the
organization activities, product or services that can interact with
the environment
Ex waste water discharge, air emission etc
3. Environmental Impact: any change whether adverse
or beneficial, wholly or partially resulting from an organization’s
activities, products, services. Example Impact on water supply,
soil erosion.

4. Environmental Objective: an overall environmental goal,


arising from the policy statement, that an organization sets for
itself and which is quantified when practical.
EMS Concept
1. Environment Target: a detailed
performance requirement and should
be quantified when practical.
Example waste water temperature should be controlled
between 10 c to 14 c
