The 5 Pedagogical
Approaches
What is Pedagogy?
What are Pedagogical
Approaches?
C-onstructivist Approach
C -ollaborative Approach

I -ntegrative Approach

I -nquiry-based Approach

R -eflective Approach
Constructivist Approach

- shows learners to be active in

the process of constructing
meaning and knowledge rather
than passively receiving
information.
Collaborative Approach

- requires learners to work

together towards a common goal
Integrative Approach

- is a learning theory that

describes a movement toward
integrated lessons helping
students make connection across
curricula
Inquiry-Based Approach
- is an approach of acquiring
or obtaining information thru
investigation carried out by
the learners who are eager to
know the phenomena in
question.
Reflective Approach

- means looking at what the

teacher and learners do in
classroom, thinking about
why they do it, and analyzing
about it if it works

The
Constructivist
Approach
Constructivist Approach

- shows learners to be active in

the process of constructing
meaning and knowledge rather
than passively receiving
information.
Constructivist Approach

- it fosters critical thinking and

provides learners with a learning
environment that helps them
make connection with their
learning.
Constructivist Approach

- learners are the makers of

meaning and knowledge.
Constructivist Approach

- learners are the makers of

meaning and knowledge.
Types of Constructivist Approach

1. Thinking Skills Strategies

- it lets the learners develop their
own ideas, analyze perspective,
solve problems and make their
own decisions.
Types of Constructivist Approach

2. Activity-Based Teaching
Strategies
- it is more on experiential
learning opportunities
Types of Constructivist Approach

3. Direct Instruction Strategies

- it is the quickest way of
learning because teachers
provide learning; students model
teacher’s words and actions
Examples of Constructivist Approach
Activities
1. Experiments
2. Field Trips
3. Film Showing
4. Discussions
5. 3 As (Act Analyze Apply)
Ways on How to Assess Constructivist
Approach

1. Oral Discussions
2. KWLH Chart
3. Mid Maps
4. Pre - Testing
The Collaborative
Approach
Collaborative Approach

- requires learners to work

together towards a common goal
Collaborative Approach

- this type of learning has been

called in various names like
collective learning, learning
communities, peer teaching, peer
learning or team learning
Collaborative Approach

- learners engage in a common

task in which each individual
depends on and is accountable to
each other.
Types of Collaborative Approach

1. Online-Collaborative Teaching
- uses the internet for assigning
task or group work.
Types of Collaborative Approach

2. Jigsaw Method
- Learners work in a small group
and letting them interact with
other group to gather small
pieces of information that would
be later combined to form more
information
Types of Collaborative Approach

3. Think-Pair-Share
- The teacher provide a specific
inquiry and let the learner
initiate the 3 stages THINK-
PAIR-SHARE
Types of Collaborative Approach

4. Integrated Process Approach

- the learners can involve their
community, other subjects, books,
any viewed or lustened information
that is related to the topic given by
the teacher
Types of Collaborative Approach

5. Peer Teaching
- Involves learners taking on a
teaching role in school setting
Examples of Peer Teaching

1. Reciprocal Teaching
2. Peer Tutoring
3. Cooperative Learning
Examples of Other Collaborative
Approach Activities

1. TAPPS( Think Aloud Pair

Problem Solving
2. Group Grid
The Integrative
Approach
Integrative Approach

- is a learning theory that

describes a movement toward
integrated lessons helping
students make connection across
curricula
Integrative Approach

- making connection with a

major, between curriculum , co-
curriculum, or between academic
knowledge and practice
Types of Integrative Approach

1. Educational Technology
- Uses technological tools like
medias, machine and networking
hardware
Types of Integrative Approach

2. Lecture Method
- An oral presentation by the
teacher that relays on factual
information. The learners role is
just to listen.
Types of Integrative Approach

3. Discussion Method
- Two-way communication between
the teacher and the laerners.
Types of Integrative Approach

4. Buzz Group
- Larger groups are divided to
smaller groups and given 1 or more
topics to discuss.
Types of Integrative Approach

5. Brainstorming
- All information under the sun
from all the learners are welcome as
long as its related to the given topic
Examples of Collaborative Approach
Activities
1. Demonstration
2. Socratic Method (Direct
Approach)
3. Computer Integration
4. Simulation Games
5. Graphic Organizer
The Inquiry-
Based
Approach
Inquiry-Based Approach
- is an approach of acquiring
or obtaining information thru
investigation carried out by
the learners who are eager to
know the phenomena in
question.
Inquiry-Based Approach

- new knowledge is used to

answer a question, develop
solution and support a position
or point of view
Inquiry-Based Approach
- it is used to engage learners of
all ages to learn by exploration
and discovery. As learners
investigate, they build their
understanding and create
meaning and new knowledge on
a certain content/topic.
Types of Inquiry-Based Approach

1. Simulation
- Role plays, games, models
Types of Inquiry-Based Approach

2. Demonstration
- Concrete and visual way of
explaining the topic, (using realia)
Types of Inquiry-Based Approach

3. Experiment
- Any activities which includes
scientific processes
Types of Inquiry-Based Approach

4. Field Study
- Allowing the learners to the real
setting wherein they can experience
a real time setting the knowledge
they can gain on a real environment
Types of Inquiry-Based Approach

5. Project Work
Examples of Inquiry-Based Approach
Activities
1. Demonstration
2. Socratic Method (Direct
Approach)
3. Computer Integration
4. Simulation Games
5. Graphic Organizer
The Reflective
Approach
Reflective Approach

- means looking at what the

teacher and learners do in
classroom, thinking about
why they do it, and analyzing
about it if it works
Reflective Approach

- It is an approach wherein
teachers can reflect and
analyze their own teaching
practice and strategies.
Reflective Approach

- It is where the teachers can

consider alternative means as
tools when standard tools are
not available.
