ACTIVITY 1

LABORATORY APPARATUS
Submitted by:
Group 4
Objectives:
 To draw the different apparatus used in laboratory.
 To explain the function of the different apparatus used
in laboratory.
 To familiarize with the important safety tips and rules in
conducting experiment in laboratory.
Before starting.
Give examples of Labaratory
APPARATUS
NORI
GNIR
Iron Ring
• an item of laboratory
equipment which
comprises a conjoined
metal ring and radially-
extending rod. It is
commonly used in
chemistry laboratories for
supporting apparatus
above the work surface.
TOH
ETALP
Hot Plate
• are frequently used in the
laboratory to perform
chemical reactions, to heat
samples, and for numerous
other activities. Hot plates
are conceptually simple – a
flat surface with heating
elements. They do not
produce open flames and
are well suited for oil or
sand bath use.
ETTEPIP
Pipette
• a necessary laboratory
instrument for dispensing
calibrated amounts of
liquids Pipettes typically
work by establishing a
partial vacuum above the
liquid-holding container
and then selectively
releasing that vacuum to
draw up and dispense the
desired volume.
DOPIRT
Tripod
• a three-legged platform used to
support flasks and beakers. Tripods
are usually made of stainless steel
or aluminium and lightly built for
portability within the lab. Often a
wire gauze is placed on top of the
tripod to provide a flat base for
glassware. made of metal and have
two curved and concave pincers.
The arms themselves may also be
curved to accommodate the shape
of crucibles, flasks, beakers, or
other glassware items.
ELBICURC
GNOT
Crucible
Tong
• are scissor-like tools, but
instead of having two
blades, these tools are
replaced with two pincers
or pieces of metals that
concave together, which
allow the users to grasp a
hot crucible, flasks,
evaporating dishes, or
even small beakers
DETAUDARG
REDNILYC
Graduated
Cylinder
• are long, slender vessels
used for measuring the
volumes of liquids. They
are not intended for
mixing, stirring, heating, or
weighing. Graduated
cylinders commonly range
in size from 5 mL to 500
mL. Some can even hold
volumes of more than a
liter.
YRPTAROBAL
REPPORD
Laboratory Dropper

• are instruments used for

measuring and transferring
liquids in small amounts.
They consist of a long
plastic or glass tube with
an opening at the end and
a rubber bulb at the top.
By pressing this rubber
bulb, you squeeze out the
liquid you need.
B.Give atleast 3
apparatuses that
has the following
function
Container for small amount of liquids/
sample
• Well plate
• Erlenmeyer flask
• Watch glass
Container for sample that needs to heat
• Beaker
• Test Tube
• Round Buttoned flask
Let’s answer the
following guide
question!!
1.What is a laboratory skill and why is it
important?
• 1. The importance of laboratory techniques in
the life of a researcher cannot be overstated.
These abilities are necessary for conducting
various studies and testing. These strategies
cannot be used in projects or researches
without the required information. The majority
of the experiments require these procedures.
2.Describe proper attire for lab, including
footwear, hair, and use of lab coats.
• It is important to be properly dressed when working in
laboratoty. Wear shoes that cover the bottom and tops of
your feet because the lab floor is rarely completely free from
debris, broken glass, or small chemical spills. In the hair hair
must be tied back, do not wear garments with floopy sleeves
or loose wrist cuffs.Lab coats should fasten to the close
collar to provide optimal protection.Lab coats should be
worn fully buttoned or snapped with sleeves dowwn.Wear
lab coats only when in the lab or work area.
3.As a student conducting an experiment in laboratory, what
attitude should you possess to have an accurate result?

• As a student, we should be able to think critically

and think fast because we are handling chemicals
in order for us tp understand better. We should also
be determined enough to finish our tasks. Most
importantly we should always be careful and we
should prioritize safety at all times.
CONCLUSION

• As an overall conclusion, we would say that this activity helped us

how to use basic laboratory apparatus in measuring mass, length,
volume, temperature and density. By the use of these laboratory
apparatus, we learned how to compute the accuracy and
precision of the results and proper way in reporting in significant
figures. We conclude that in doing laboratory experiment, you are
required to have a careful and keen observation plus proper and
right laboratory techniques and operations to obtain correct
results. Furthermore, using the correct formulas in computing
accuracy and precision and reporting it on a right way by using
the rules on scientific notation
