1
OUR POINTS:

I. Chemical reaction
II. what is the importance of it
III. from what they are formed
IV. How they work
V. Properties of enzyme
VI. graph of the effect of temperature on the enzyme
VII.Effect of the ph on the enzyme.

2
INTERDUCTION:
Thounsands of chemical reaction take place in our cells.
This reaction make us alive by chemicals which called enzyme.
Catalysts is a chemical which speed up reaction .

definition : enzyme is acatalyst that used to speed up the reaction.

3
TYPES OF ENZYME
builders breakers
 in the small molecules are formed  From large to small
together to make large ones
 they speed up the reactions
 ex: amino acid formed to make protein
 ex: starch is broken down to glucose

 speed up these reaction and they are

imp. Inside our cells.

4
HOW THEY WORKS?
• enzyme works on substance called substrates

• the reaction takes place on apart of the surface of the enzyme called Active
site.
•molecules are constantly moving about and bumping into one another.
• this way called key and lock .

5
PROPERTIES OF ENZYME

 100% they are protein “that’s why we need protein”.

 specific in their action.
 each enzyme have a type to work on .
 EX: substrate work sucrase acts only on sucrose .
 EX: maltase acts only maltose .
 they can be used again and again .
 most important thing for the enzyme is temperature and ph .

6
EFFECT OF CHANGING
Temperature of enzyme o Ph of enzyme

o most of the enzyme work on alkalinity , but when

it is optimum ph
oMost chemical happen faster when the
temp. is higher.

7
IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT
ENZYME
 high temp. destroy the enzyme substrate and can’t fit in the active site again.
 enzyme is denature and can’t catalyse the reaction any more ,so they take order to
stop reaction .
 the optimum temp. for the enzyme is lower than or equal to 27c* and when it is
40c* the enzyme damage .
