REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8439

• The Republic Act No. 8439, also known as the Magna Carta for
Scientists, Engineers, Researchers, and Other S & T Personnel in
the Government or simply Magna Carta for S & T Personnel was
signed into law by President Fidel V. Ramos on December 22,
1997.
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10612

• The Republic Act No. 10612, also known as the Fast-Tracked


Science & Technology Scholarship Act of 2013 aims to strengthen
the country’s science and technology education by fast tracking
graduates in the sciences, mathematics and engineering who shall
teach science and mathematics in secondary schools throughout
the country.
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10055

• The Republic Act No. 10055, also known as Philippine Technology


Transfer Act of 2009 is an Act Providing the Framework and
Support System for the Ownership, Management, Use, and
Commercialization of Intellectual Property Generated from
Research and Development funded by Government and for other
purposes.
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10535

• The Republic Act No. 10535, also known as The Philippine


Standard Time (PhST) Act of 2013.

• The law mandating the use of Philippine Standard Time (PST) by


government agencies and radio and television networks takes
effect today. On May 15, President Aquino signed Republic Act
10535, ordering government offices and agencies to synchronize
all their timepieces to follow a standard time.

• The Republic Act No.2067, also known as Science Act of 1958.

• An act to integrate, coordinate, and intensify scientific and


technological research and development and to foster invention;
to provide funds therefor; and for other purposes.

DEVELOPMENT (STAND) PHILIPPINES 2000

• The Science And Technology Agenda For National


Development (STAND) emphasizes the development
and utilization of superior technologies to a level of
competitive advantage.
NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PLAN
(NSTP 2002-2020)
• By 2004, science and technology shall have contributed significantly
to the enhancement of national productivity and competitiveness
and to the solution of pressing problems.

• By 2010, the Philippines shall have earned niches and become a


world class knowledge provider and user in selected science and
technology areas, and shall have developed a vibrant science and
technology culture.

• By 2020, the Philippines shall have developed a wide range of


globally competitive products and services which have a high
technological content.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE SIGNS BALIK SCIENTIST
LAW

• Science and technology in the country scored another


milestone with the signing of the Balik Scientist law by
President Rodrigo Roa A. Duterte on 15 June 2018.
Republic Act No. 11035, also known as an Act
Institutionalizing the Balik Scientist Program, would give
more incentives to returning Filipino experts, scientists,
inventors, and engineers who would share their expertise
in the country.

• The bill also states that the Balik Scientist Program will prioritize
experts in the fields of space, technology, artificial intelligence,
biomedical engineering, energy, agriculture, food technology,
biotechnology, information and communications technology,
pharmaceutical, disaster mitigation and management,
environment and natural resources, electronics, genomics, health,
manufacturing, nanotechnology, cyber security, and
semiconductors.
