Here are the contributions of the past presidents of the Philippines from President
Ferdinand Marcos Sr. to the present regarding science and technology:

1. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. (1965-1986):


• Establishment of the National Science Development Board (NSDB) in 1963,
which aimed to promote scientific research and development in the
country.
• Creation of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical
Services Administration (PAGASA) to monitor weather conditions and
provide accurate forecasts.
• Establishment of the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST),
now known as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), to
oversee scientific research and technological development.
2. Corazon Aquino (1986-1992):
• Continued support for the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)
in promoting scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation.
• Encouragement of partnerships between the government, academe, and
industry to foster research and development.
• Promotion of science and technology education through the integration of
technology subjects in the curriculum.
3. Fidel V. Ramos (1992-1998):
• Launch of the "Science and Technology Agenda for National
Development" program, which aimed to harness science and technology
for socio-economic progress.
• Establishment of the Philippine Council for Advanced Science and
Technology Research and Development (PCASTRD) to focus on strategic
research areas.
• Creation of the Commission on Information and Communications
Technology (CICT) to advance the development and use of information
technology.
4. Joseph Estrada (1998-2001):
• Emphasis on expanding the use of information and communication
technology (ICT) in various sectors, including education, government, and
business.
• Encouragement of public-private partnerships in ICT initiatives, such as the
establishment of e-commerce platforms.
5. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (2001-2010):

through science and technology.

establishment of the National Biotechnology Program and the National

8. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (2022-Present)

develop a bigger pool of scientist, researchers and innovators in the
country.
• Improvements in the country’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and
