Descriptive Text- It describes people,

animals, things, places and events


using our five senses.
Descriptive Text- It aims to convey a
complete picture of an object, event, or to
provide a visual concept of things, places,
people, or events.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the
description is to make the listener or
reader see a clear and complete picture.
Importance- The description in the text is important
because it helps the reader to better understand the
images that the writer wants to think or convey. It helps to
enable the reader's imagination more widely. It is easier to
understand and read the text if the writers describe clearly.
Descriptive method - A text is descriptive if it contains
information related to the physical characteristics of an
object, place and even the characteristics possessed by
a person or group of people, usually answering the
question What?
3 Ways of Describing
1. Based on the 5 senses
2. Based on the feelings or personal attitude of the
describer.
3. Based on observation-based on observation of events.
Type of Descriptive Text
1. COMMON- The description is common if it provides information
according to the general view or point of view.
-The feelings and opinions of the narrator should not be included.
-It uses only specific and common descriptive words and records
things or specific details in a simple way.
EXAMPLE: Matet is beautiful. His gentle
face is further accentuated by his ruddy
cheeks. She has long hair that reaches
down to her waist. His body is slim which
is matched by his height.
ARTISTIC
-It is artistic if it expresses a living picture based on the
author's feelings and point of view. The descriptive words
used are usually selective, including the use of adjectives,
adverbs, adverbs, and idioms.
ARTISTIC
-The dates shown here are colored of imagination, perspective and
personal opinion of the narrator.
-It has the purpose of touching the will of the listener or reader to
encourage them to join in the imagination or experience the
feelings of what is being described
EXAMPLE
The peace of the farm seemed like a
mother's hand caressing Danding's hot
forehead.
Four Important Tools Used in
Clear Description
LANGUAGE
-If an artist uses a pencil to describe the beauty of
the model. A writer uses language to create a
clear and effective description. The adjective is
usually used here.
IT'S FIXED DETAIL
-Must have a systematic approach to presenting things that will help
to fully describe a person, thing, place or event. When the details are
presented well, the readers or listeners have the opportunity to use
their imagination to visualize the things being described.
PERSPECTIVE DESCRIPTION
-The description of a person, place, or event may vary based on
the experience and attitude of the person describing it. One place,
for example, may be beautiful to a describer while another is not if
it has caused him a bad experience.
A WHOLE OR IMPRESSION
-Since the purpose of description is to create a clear picture in
the imagination of the readers, it is important for a describer to
persuade his readers or listeners so that they can form an
impression about what is described. Here comes together the
power of language, the smooth presentation of details, and the
perspective of the narrator.
