Assessment in classroom instruction
Is the process of observing, collecting, analyzing and evidence that
can be used to draw inferences and inform decision making. It is a
Systematic approach to formative evaluation, used by instructors to
determine how much and how well students are learning.

CATEGORY PURPOSE

1. Placement Assessment
Are used to “place” students into course, Measures entry behavior
course level, or academic program.

2. Formative Assessment
To monitor students learning to provide ongoing feedback
that can be used by instructors to improve their Monitors learning progress
teaching and by students to improve their learning.

3.Diagnostic Assessment
Are sets of written questions (multiple choice or short answer) Identifies causes of learning problems
that assess a learner’s current knowledge
base or current views on a topic to be studied in the course.

4. Summative Assessment
Usually given at the end of instructions to Measures end-of-course achievement

it can bring about.

Enhancement of students’ learning and development.

area of academic skill and self-worth in knowing one’s capability to function
effectively In society.

Effective side of development is equally important, such as personal


dimensions; including being able to adjust to people and coping
With various situations that will lead to a better life adjustment.
